Signs of decline since his last win at Cartmel early last season and has struggled both starts since returning to action last month.

Went close in the Sussex National at Plumpton last season before coming in eighth of 23 in Kim Muir at Cheltenham. Shaped well when third on return/debut for this yard at Kelso (23.4f, good to soft) 3 weeks ago and stiffer test here will be right up his street.

Resumed winning ways over hurdles at Hexham in June but went off too hard there next time. Respectable effort back chasing when fourth at the same course (2½m, good to soft) 22 days ago but he doesn't appear to be crying out for a stamina test such as this.

Useful earlier in his career and while it was all very low-key last season his debut spin at Fairyhouse for this yard was also prety tame, the 9-y-o proved he retains plenty of ability when going close at Ayr (3m, soft) recently. Good chance he'll cope with this trip and he remains on a good mark.

Dual chase scorer last winter who performed well during the spring, runner-up in handicaps at Carlisle and Aintree at around 25f. However, he was a faller on his reappearance and his jumping again failed the test at Wetherby next time, for all that he actually managed to get round.

Winner of 3 of his 6 starts over hurdles in France. Lightly-raced and consistent for this yard, with his latest second in 5-runner handicap chase at Newbury (23.4f, good to soft) in March arguably his best performance to date over fences. This extreme stamina test could be just what he needs.

Got off the mark in Haydock handicap chase last December and not discredited next 2 starts. Shaped as if better for the run at Kelso on return and a likely player eased 2 lb here with this marathon trip expected to be within his range.

Veteran who has been in good heart in recent months, resuming winning ways at Market Rasen in July and readily back on the scoresheet in 8-runner handicap chase at Hexham last month. Latest second off 5 lb higher at Wetherby (24.2f, good) was no backward step and further 2 lb nudge fair enough.

Back-to-back winner of Wetherby handicap hurdles at around 3m last winter, and there was plenty to like about the way he did the job on chase debut back there (24.2f, soft) a fortnight ago. Shapes as though stamina won't be an issue now upped in trip and he's one to keep on side.

It was a taking performance that THE BIG BREAC delivered on his recent chase debut at Wetherby and, with the promise of better to come from this lightly-raced 8-y-o, he can take this rise in class, trip and the weights in his stride. Dom of Mary performed with credit over an inadequate trip on debut for James Owen at Kelso and he is greatly respected now faced with a more suitable test. Zertakt also promises to be suited by this marathon trip and enters calculations, along with Wal Buck's.
