Failed to get his head in front last season and he wasn't able to land a meaningful blow on his recent reappearance at Carlisle. On a good mark should he put his best foot forward, but he's now 10 and may prove vulnerable to younger legs in this contest.

Three-time chase winner during 2023/24 campaign and back on the scoresheet over hurdles at Doncaster last December. Runner-up all 3 starts returned to fences during the spring and his record when fresh is a good one, so there are certainly reasons to be optimistic.

Back in the groove when adding to his tally at Haydock (16.3f, soft) in January, but that win is bookmarked by several far less inspiring performances and he's opposable back from a 6-month break (has undergone a wind op).

Dual bumper/hurdles winner in France. Yet to score over fences, but looks more than capable of doing so judged on several pieces of form, not least his creditable third in a 9-runner handicap chase at Sandown (2½m, good to firm) when last seen in April. Will be a threat if raring to go.

At the top of his game in recent months, jumping well when winning from the front at Stratford and Bangor prior to completing the hat-trick in a match over this C&D. Now 20 lb higher compared to when that winning sequence was initiated, but he has to be respected with Sean Bowen again booked.

Hurdles winner for James Ewart and scored at second attempt over fences for that yard in February. Improved again when following up on recent return/debut for Dan Skelton at Kelso (17f, good to soft) and, with the promise of more to come from this 8-y-o, he's the one to beat under a penalty here.

Though THISTLE ASK would arguably be most at home on a sharp, right-handed track, he did the job well enough going this way round at Kelso six days ago to suggest that he will maintain his 100% record for the Dan Skelton yard under a penalty here (officially 2 lb 'well-in'). Indeed, this 8-y-o is unexposed over fences and should have more to offer. Homme Public has a pretty good record when fresh and gets the nod ahead of the in-form Magistrato for forecast purposes.
