Progressive when a 4-time winner over hurdles in spring but made a discouraging chase debut last month. Jumped better second time up over fences but typically found little when a well beaten third in a 4-runner chase at Sedgefield last time. Something to prove with more severe headgear now tried.

Point winner showed modest placed form over hurdles and probably went off too hard under a change of tactics when pulled up on a chase debut at Hereford earlier this month. Remains to be seen if he can do better upped markedly in trip with a first-time tongue strap fitted.

Found improvement to get off the mark over fences at Southwell at the start of the month but had fortunate on his side (leader crashed out) when following up at Sedgefield (21.1f) 11 days ago. Worth another go over this sort of trip and may well land the hat-trick.

Maiden has progressed steadily from run-to-run for Mickey Bowen, back to something like his best but unable to justify support when second in a 4-runner chase at Sedgefield (26.3f), not helping himself by jumping right. Claims if he can iron out jumping issues on just his third start over fences.

Benefitted from a well-judged Sean Bowen ride to break his duck in first-time cheekpieces at Stratford (22.6f, good) last month. Couldn't repeat that effort over 2½m Worcester next time but ought to be closer to form stepping back up in trip.

Maiden has posted some creditable efforts over fences at Hexham this season, including latest fourth when doing all he could from 3 lb out of the weights in a 7-runner handicap. Isn't the most consistent but could be competitive if on a going day following a short break.

COULDBEAWEAPON had fortune on his side when landing a double at Sedgefield last time but still appeals as the most likely winner if seeing out this longer trip. Sir Carnegie finished a well-backed runner-up at Sedgefield earlier this month and may prove the main danger if jumping better on just his third start over fences, while Radharc Na Slaine could bounce back returning to this sort of trip with Brian Hughes taking over in the saddle.
