Built on promise of debut fourth in a Huntingdon bumper when making a winning start over hurdles at Worcester (2m, good to soft) in May. More will be needed under a penalty back from a break here, but he's clearly open to improvement.

Made it third time lucky in bumpers when landing the odds at Taunton (16.5f, good to firm) during the spring, despite again not looking entirely straightforward. Top yard has saddled 3 of the last 4 winners of this novice, which helps strengthen the case for this 5-y-o now switched to hurdles.

Fetched €75,000 after finishing third in a maiden point in April and should have a future under Rules. One to note in the betting.

Little impact in a trio of bumpers this year and he's hard to warm to now tackling hurdles. Grey Lagoo is presumably the stable first-string, albeit jockey bookings are inconclusive in that respect and the betting is likely to point the way.

Similar form when hitting the frame both bumper starts and probably best to overlook poor hurdles debut at Worcester (pulled up) where he was later found to have an irregular heartbeat. In good hands and it'll be interesting to see if support again arrives (was well backed at Worcester).

Sent off at 33/1 and beaten a long way on debut in a Chepstow bumper during the spring.

Little impact in a couple of bumpers earlier this year and he's probably more of a long-term prospect.

Decent jumps pedigree and found just one too good on sole start between the flags in February. Has joined a leading yard and the betting should be revealing in respect of expectations surrounding this 4-y-o now hurdling.

Showed more than on debut when fifth of 13 at Kempton in March. However, he wasn't able to better that at Haydock next time and significant step forward needed now tackling hurdles.

Wasn't able to justify favouritism on debut at Exeter last December, but put that right when landing 5-runner juvenile event at Hereford (16.2f, soft) in February. Further progress likely and he's high on the shortlist.

Forecasts

Hot To Go (6/5), Le Soleil Reve (10/3), Calvino (9/2), Havefunontherun (9/2), Grey Lagoon (11/1), Jackomy (14/1), Kapitein Kool (33/1), Madajovy (50/1), Idaho Bridge (66/1), Fight My Fire (125/1), El Arco (300/1)

14:15 Newton Abbot - 18 October 2025 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

The Taunton bumper in which CALVINO opened his account in April wasn't particularly strong, but he clearly possesses an engine and is bound to have been well-schooled ahead of this hurdles debut in a race that his top yard has won three times in the last four years. The promising Le Soleil Reve is second choice with his 4-y-o allowance a major bonus, while point recruit Hot To Go and Havefunontherun, who made a winning start in this sphere at Worcester, are others to consider.
