Season's best when smooth-travelling second to in the Group 3 Diomed in June and has had some excuses since, denied a run in the Celebration Mile at Goodwood and possibly not suited by quick conditions in the Superior Mile at Haydock last month. Could be interesting back in handicap company.

Placed in an all-weather listed race on second and final start for Aidan O'Brien (sold for 18,000 gns) but yet to beat a rival in two starts for new connections, latest when returning from 10 months off/a breathing operation at Haydock 13 days ago. Plenty to prove with tongue strap on first time.

Goodwood specialist bagged the Golden Mile handicap at the track in August but has been in a lull since, beaten favourite under Oisin Murphy when midfield a 1m handicap at the previously mentioned track 16 days ago. Can still be competitive off this mark if bouncing back.

Course winner was beaten just a nose in this race last year (each of his 5 wins coming on ground softer than good). Posted a career best victory faced with ideal conditions at Ayr (1m, soft) in September. Respected returning to this track but would benefit from softer ground.

Three-time course winner (7f) was second in this race in 2023. Turned in his best effort of the season when fifth in a 17-runner handicap over C&D in August and still in good form (with headgear refitted) when fourth behind Thunder Roar at Ayr last month. Should remain competitive.

Knocking on the door in handicaps this season, solid form when narrowly beaten by an unexposed 3-y-o at Glorious Goodwood (1m) and again runner-up when beaten by an improving favourite (who got first run) at Yarmouth (9.1f) last month. May go one better if getting the breaks here.

Smart performer at best for Sir Michael Stoute but has struggled for form for new yard this season, faring little better with a tongue strap added (retained) when only beating one home in a 20-runner handicap at Ascot (7f) 34 days ago. Back over 1m but remains with questions to answer.

Had some strong 3-y-o form and finished second in a 7f Newcastle handicap on reappearance in June. Sold from Roger Varian for 100,000 gns after and down the field both starts for new yard. First-time blinkers need to spark a revival.

On a long losing run but plenty of creditable efforts this year, including when third in a strong C&D handicap in June and still in form when fourth over a 1m at Doncaster last month. On a handy mark but needs things to fall right.

C&D winner has been far from disgraced of late, fourth in a useful 10-runner handicap at Haydock (8f, good) 13 days ago. Slowly coming down the weights but has finished well held in the previous two renewals of this race.

Has some strong form in handicaps this season (Bunbury Cup third reads well) despite not being the most straightforward. Typically got rolling too late when third in a 12-runner 7f handicap at Goodwood in August, extending his losing run. May again prove vulnerable for win purposes.

Runner-up in a 0-90 at Thirsk in August but has struggled in better company than he normally keeps on previous two starts. Steps back up to 1m but this doesn't look any easier.

1-1 over this C&D and back to winning ways at Meydan in the spring. Likely in better form the recent form figures suggest, badly hampered when midfield in the Cambridgeshire last time. A return to the Middle East may be on the cards but he's one to consider if the market speaks in his favour.

Winner of 2 of his 4 starts as a 3-y-o but has regressed following a positive start to this season, faring no better in first-time hood/cheekpieces on final start for Tom Clover in August. Has joined a shrewd yard and is worth a market check stepping back up to 1m.

Scored at Newmarket (7f) in July and was unlucky not to win at Newbury following month. Largely shaped much better than finishing positions would suggest, doing all he could from a difficult position at Newmarket latest. Strong travelling sort (in first-time hood) could run a big race back over 1m.

Has had a remarkable season, winning 7 races, including a fifth victory at Ayr when better than ever last month. More than held her own in a 0-90 when third at Hamilton 11 days ago and she still looks on a workable mark despite this marked rise in class (races from 1 lb out of the handicap).

Useful handicapper who scored twice over 1m at Ripon in 2023 but off for almost 2 years prior to this season and has looked out of sorts. Difficult to make a strong case for.

WHIP CRACKER has finished runner-up on three of his previous 4 starts, achieving some solid form along the way and he appeals most in a typically-competitive renewal. Strong-travelling Leadman arrives in much better heart than recent form figures suggest and he's capable of running a big race if getting the breaks back over 1m in a first-time hood, while Ice Max would prefer easier ground but merits plenty of respect back in handicap company.
