8/1
Stewards' Cup winner at Glorious Goodwood in August. Creditable ½-length fourth of 20 to Northern Ticker in a York handicap (6f, good to firm, 4/1) 28 days ago, faring best of those held up. Performed well at this meeting in 2023 and last year. Consistent and should be in the mix.

Three wins from 6 runs this year, the latest at Chester in May. Below form when 6¾ lengths fifteenth of 27 to Two Tribes in handicap (9/2) at Goodwood (6f, good) 49 days ago. Merits consideration judged on his fine effort at Royal Ascot in June. One of 4 runners for the Kevin Ryan yard.

Latest win at Deauville in April. 6¾ lengths seventh of 9 to Lethal Levi in listed race at Newmarket (6f, good to firm, 40/1) 29 days ago. Mark for this somewhat belated handicap debut looks pretty stiff.

12/1, career best when winning 20-runner handicap at York (6f, good to firm) 28 days ago by head from stablemate Commanche Falls, just holding on. Relatively unexposed and, carrying a penalty here, he should make a bold bid to provide his yard with a first Ayr Gold Cup winner.

Three-time C&D winner. Bit below form eighth of 21 in handicap at Doncaster (5.6f, good, 20/1) 7 days ago. Good fifth in this race 12 months ago and also performed well in the Bronze Cup in 2022 and 2023. Place possibilities.

Winner of the Silver Cup off a 7 lb lower mark at this meeting 12 months ago. Bit below form 2 lengths fifth of 11 to Rage of Bamby in listed race (11/10) at Newmarket (6f, soft) on final run of 2024 campaign (absent since). Big ask to go and win this for new yard on the back of an 11-month absence.

Latest win at Newbury in May. 15/8, creditable third of 12 in handicap at Kempton (6f) 14 days ago. Good second to Alfa Kellenic in the Silver Cup at this meeting 12 months ago and he's a strong each-way candidate.

C&D winner. Nineteen runs since last win in 2023. 3 lengths ninth of 13 to Desert Falcon in handicap at Doncaster (6.5f, good, 11/1) 6 days ago. Just touched off by Northern Ticker at York on penultimate start, form which offers genuine hope, but may again find his younger stablemate too good.

Thirteen runs since last win in 2023. Creditable length sixth of 13 to Desert Falcon in handicap at Doncaster (6.5f, good, 5/1) 6 days ago. Figures on a good mark and will be a threat if the first-time cheekpieces have the desired effect.

66/1, below form 7¾ lengths twelfth of 20 to Northern Ticker in handicap at York (6f, good to firm) 28 days ago, ridden too aggressively. Remains 2 lb above last winning mark and he's opposable. Cheekpieces back on.

40/1, 8½ lengths thirteenth of 17 to Big Mojo in Sprint Cup at Haydock (6f, good to firm) last time. Cracking second in the Nunthorpe on penultimate start and officially 13 lb 'well-in' for this handicap bow. Arguably more effective at 5f, but he's a big player with James Doyle booked all the same.

Nineteen runs since last win in 2022. Below form 6¾ lengths tenth of 20 to Northern Ticker in handicap at York (6f, good to firm, 18/1) 28 days ago, not ideally placed. One of 3 for his yard and Two Tribes is presumably the first-string.

Creditable fourth of 21 in handicap (13/2) at Doncaster (5.6f, good) 7 days ago. No reason to think he won't give a good account, but he is seemingly held by several of these rivals based on various pieces of this season's form.

Shaped better than the bare result when 4½ lengths ninth of 20 to Northern Ticker in handicap (16/1) at York (6f, good to firm) 28 days ago. Claims judged on his second to Two Tribes in the Stewards' Cup previously, but he has struggled at this meeting for the past 3 years.

15:35 Ayr - 20 September 2025 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

NORTHERN TICKER had several of these behind when landing a big pot at York last month and, with the strong possibility of better to come from this low-mileage 3-y-o, he is taken to end Michael Dods' Ayr Gold Cup hoodoo. Jubilee Walk wasn't seen to best effect on the Knavesmire that day and, having got back on track when second at Ascot recently, he is feared most ahead of Aramram. While their low draws may not be ideal, Ain't Nobody and Purosangue both command respect all the same.
