A'ali filly showed more than on debut when fourth of 11 in maiden at Lingfield (6f, AW) 16 days ago but would need to take another step forward to get off the mark here.

£32,000 yearling, A'ali filly. Half-sister to 5f-7f winner Electric Blue and useful winner up to 1m Lawful Command. Dam 1m winner. Wears hood for debut and newcomers from this yard typically need their first outing.

Cotai Glory filly. Sister to 3 winners, including useful winner up to 7f Key To Cotai and 6f winner Cotai Pearl. Dam, 2-y-o 5f-7f winner. In good hands and bred to make an impact as a juvenile. One to monitor in the betting.

32,000 gns yearling, Palace Pier filly. Half-sister to useful winner up to 6f Townsend Manor and 1m winner Marry The Night. Dam 6f winner. Makes some appeal on paper but yard have a modest strike-rate with juvenile newcomers.

Showed more than on debut when third of 10 in a thin novice at Carlisle (5.8f, soft, 66/1) 10 days ago. Shapes as though she'll stay further than this and may have better prospects down the line.

Tasleet filly. Dam 5f/6f winner. Debutante is likely one for the longer-term unless the market suggests otherwise.

Inexpensive purchase but showed a bit when sixth of 11 in maiden at Lingfield (6f, AW, 50/1) on debut 16 days ago, not knocked about. Worth a check to see if she features more prominently in the better here but is probably one for nurseries.

Sergei Prokofiev filly was a cheap purchase given her pedigree and showed promise when runner-up at Carlistle (5.8f, soft) on debut 10 days ago, no match for potentially useful, more-experienced winner. That form puts her in the mix on all-weather debut.

€4,000 yearling, Cotai Glory filly. Half-sister to 7f winner Manaslu and 1¼m winner Diamine. Dam maiden half-sister to useful winner up to 11f Menhoubah. Probably one for the future.

Arguably unlucky not to get off the mark in an all-weather maiden in July and backed that up when a close third at Windsor later that month. Too free over 7f at Yarmouth last time but drop back to 6f should help in that regard. Looks one of the likelier winners on return to the all-weather.

Has a pedigree of contrasts but showed ability at huge odds when 150/1, fourth of 12 in novice at Windsor (6f, good to firm) on debut 39 days ago, ran green and made late headway. Entitled to do better second time up.

Expert Eye filly. Half-sister to several winners, including 6f-7f winner Mountain Brave and 6f-1m winner Plucky Dip, both useful. Dam 7f winner. From a capable yard (successful with a newcomer at Beverley on Tuesday) and she's worth monitoring for support on debut.

Storm Esme (85/40), Startled Lady (4/1), Ten Sixty Six (4/1), Clementines Star (11/2), Gwen's Girl (8/1), Sweet Echo (8/1), Cotai Starlight (17/2), Zarinca (12/1), Aly A'ali (14/1), Thornaby Annie (40/1), All Good (40/1), Mereside Princess (40/1), Control Room (50/1)

17:44 Newcastle - 19 September 2025 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

STARTLED LADY was arguably unlucky not to land a similar event at Southwell earlier this season and should be suited by the drop back to 6f having been too keen over 7f last time. She's taken to get off the mark at the expense of Ten Sixty Six who has shaped with promise in 7f maidens (form has taken a few knocks) but could be seen to even better effect over a sprint trip, while Gwen's Girl finished runner-up on her debut at Carlisle 10 days ago and is entitled to improve.
