A smart 5f winner in 2022 who has been very lightly raced since but best effort of current campaign when fourth in a C&D handicap last month. Not figured tackling group company either side of that effort but return to handicaps can see him in a better light with conditions holding no fears.

Ended last term with a brace of runner-up efforts in listed company and bright return from 7 months off when third at Navan (5f) in June. Subsequent Curragh display was a below par one but given a chance by the assessor and a better showing can't be ruled out back on soft ground.

It's now 16 runs since his last win in 2024 but again shaped well from his reduced mark when third in last month's Stewards' Cup. Ran creditably when filling same spot in 6-runner handicap back at that C&D last time and possible return to this big-field scenario will see him in a better light.

Form figures in handicaps in the UAE during early 2024 read 2121 and encouraging he could run so well back from 17 months off when second of 10 in handicap at this C&D (good to firm) 28 days ago. Has form with give underfoot and this likeable sort ought to give another good account.

4-y-o who is better than ever right now, readily resuming winning ways from plum draw at Chester (6f) in June and career-best display from 8 lb higher when taking 13-runner handicap at Yarmouth (5.2f) 44 days ago. Up 4 lb but shortlisted once more with conditions firmly in his favour.

Useful 5f winner at 2 yrs who finished well held in Haydock Group 2 on return in May but better signs when fifth of 11 in handicap at Southwell (5f) 55 days ago. Remains one of the least exposed and feasible to think this 3-y-o could yet have more to offer.

Bagged 5f handicaps at Goodwood and over C&D last season but he refused to race at Goodwood last July. Not figured in 2 starts so far this time around, and fact he was very slowly/off bridle in the "Dash" at Epsom 3 months ago suggests he's one to tread carefully with.

3-time C&D winner (including this race 12 months ago) who capitalised on falling mark and landed gamble in process when taking 7-runner handicap at Sandown (5f, soft, 5/4) 7 days ago, keeping on well. Handicapper has reacted with a 7 lb rise but she commands plenty of respect in present groove.

Very useful at his peak and following a lull, he's suddenly been revived by the Ruth Carr team, landing big-field handicaps at York/Goodwood in July. Likely did too much too soon when trailing in last of 20 in handicap at first-named venue latest and he's a likely candidate to bounce back.

Has been inconsistent this season, best effort for a while when second at Pontefract (5f) in July but not threatened in trio of starts since, seventh of 8 in handicap at Goodwood (5f) 14 days ago. Lurking on a very dangerous mark when things do click, however.

Held form well since the spring, doubling his tally for the season in a Racing League event at Newcastle (5f) on penultimate start. Creditable fourth at Southwell followed 9 days ago and this stiffer track ought to play firmly to his strengths back on turf.

Most effective on ground softer than good, regaining winning thread in clear-cut style at Carlisle (5f) in May. However, seemingly in a lull more recently, headgear discarded when eleventh of 14 in handicap at Hamilton (6f) in July. Freshened up since and usual headgear now goes back on.

Progressive this season, adding to his tally at Chepstow (5f) in June. Backed that up with second place finishes on 2 of his 3 starts subsequently, up in class for the latest of them in 8-runner handicap at Goodwood (5f) 2 weeks ago. This looks tougher again.

Relatively infrequent winner who has taken well to Hamilton, back to winning ways over 5f there in June. Upset in stalls and heavily eased when last of 13 to Solar Aclaim in handicap at Yarmouth (5.2f) 44 days ago but worth noting he ran well when chasing home Woolhampton in this race 12 months ago.

Prolific upon joining present stable during second half of 2024, winning 5 times between September and November. Form up and down in recent months but highlighted he could be ready to strike when chasing home one right at the top of his game at Goodwood (5f) 4 days ago. One to bear in mind.

Last year's heroine WOOLHAMPTON found the return to testing ground firmly in her favour when landing a gamble at Sandown last week and, with her yard enjoying a highly-productive spell, she could well be up to defying a 7 lb rise. Hat-trick seeking Solar Aclaim is another who has conditions firmly in his favour and he's a lead threat. Jakajaro, Vespasian and Marching Mac complete the shortlist in an interesting finale.
