Southwell maiden winner on debut in January and also made a successful start in handicap company upped to a mile at Goodwood (good to firm) during the spring. That form hasn't worked out particularly well, though, and he's been found wanting the last twice.

Winless at 2 yrs for Jane Chapple-Hyam, but largely acquitted himself well and made it second time lucky for present yard at Newbury (7f, good to firm), seeing things out better than has often been the case. Merits respect on the back of that improved display, for all that this is tougher up 5 lb.

Built on debut promise when opening her account at Doncaster (7f, good) during the spring and improved again when following up back from a break in a fast-ground Haydock novice in July. Brings potential to this handicap bow and she will be a danger to all if handling conditions.

Won twice on AW for Clive Cox at 2 yrs but more miss than hit so far this year and was again below par on debut for this yard at Wolverhampton last month.

Heavily backed prior to making a winning debut at Newcastle in February. Surpassed that form when second under a penalty at the same course next time but has finished nearer last than first in turf handicaps the last twice.

Built on 2-y-o debut promise when seeing off 3 rivals in a C&D novice (good to soft) here last September. Well held first 3 starts of this season and while there was greater encouragement in his latest fourth with blinkers enlisted (retained here) at Doncaster, others are more appealing.

Won twice on slow ground as a juvenile and has taken steps firmly back in the right direction on his last 2 starts. finding one too good over 6f at Ayr before finishing fourth of 8 back at this trip at Haydock where he wasn't seen to best effect. Big player with conditions in his favour.

Yet to get his head in front but there are more good efforts than bad ones on his CV, including a C&D third off 1 lb lower in July. Can be expected to give another good account.

Got on top close home when opening his account on good ground at Leicester in July and again arrived late on the scene for another narrow success at Chepstow (7f, heavy) on Tuesday, pulling clear of the rest with the second. Escapes a penalty for that and has to be feared with Oisin Murphy booked.

Signed off last by winning a heavy-ground 7f Leicester nursery and again demonstrated his penchant for testing conditions with another decisive display at Lingfield in June. Conversely, he has failed to fire both starts since and now finds himself with a bit to prove.

Failed to build on debut promise in 2 subsequent runs for Charles Hills but firmly back on track for new yard last month, close third in a Lingfield maiden before finding just one too good on handicap bow at Sandown (1m, soft). Strong claims.

Winner of 7f Kempton nursery last September and all 3 runs this season have been over the same C&D, posting his best effort when second in an 8-runner handicap on penultimate start. However, he is opposable returned to turf in a race more competitive than he is accustomed to.

17:15 Ascot - 5 September 2025 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

The pick of several appealing candidates is TACTICAL PLAN, who gave the leading pair too much rope when an eye-catching fourth at Haydock last time and, provided the ground remains on the slow side, he should go close here with Jim Crowley back in the hot-seat (he's 2-3 when partnered by Crowley). Sea Suite is greatly respected on the back of his solid Sandown effort, while the unexposed Forty Years On and hat-trick seeking Excellent Echo are others to consider.
