Ran a promising second over C&D on reappearance and right back to his best when runner-up at Yarmouth (7f) last month. His good spell didn't last long, only beating one home in a 10-runner handicap at Chepstow 23 days ago. Remains to be seen if he can get back on track down in trip.

Promising juvenile (placed in listed company over 5f) but struggled on both starts in handicaps this season, latest when beaten by more than the longer trip when last at Goodwood (7f) in May. Given a break since (has been gelded in the interim) but will need to be right back to his best.

7f winner for Doug Watson in Meydan last year and matched that form on the all-weather for Ian Williams over the winter. Probably needed the run on first start for new connections at Goodwood last month but he'll need to leave that form well behind reverted to sprinting.

Gained first handicap success at Newmarket in May and got back on track when 4¾ lengths fourth of 17 at in a valuable sprint handicap at Newmarket July Course (6f, good to firm) last month. Ran poorly at the Shergar Cup meeting last time but looks the type to bounce back quickly from a plum draw.

Made a winning reappearance at Yarmouth in May and posted by far his best effort when winning over this C&D last month, having been well-suited by the return to 6f. Wasn't in the same form at the Shergar Cup meeting last time but that can be forgiven. Better expected returning to this track.

Won twice for Tom Clover in 2024 and while there have been signs of promise since joining current connections, he underlined his inconsistency when well beaten at (7.2f) 56 days ago. Capable in this sort of company but needs to recapture her form following a short break.

Winner at Southwell (6f) in April and is in far better heart than recent form figures suggest, unable to get seriously involved from a less than ideal position in the Great St Wilfrid handicap at Ripon 2 weeks ago. One to consider down in grade but will need a bit of luck from stall 15.

Produced a career-best faced with a perfect set up over C&D (6f) in July. Ran at least as well from a 6 lb higher mark at Wolverhampton next time and is best forgiven his most recent start at Windsor (5.1f). Should be more competitive from a good draw with pace to aim at back over 6f.

Back-to-back winner in June latterly over C&D. Beaten less than a length at Ayr the following month and continued his good run of form when third returning to C&D 35 days ago, despite being keen enough in front. Well drawn for a prominent racer and merits plenty of respect.

17:00 Chester - 30 August 2025 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

MARCHOGION had some very solid handicap form earlier this season and he wasn't the only one of this field to disappoint at the Shergar Cup meeting earlier this month. He's well-drawn and is taken to bounce back at the expense of Miraculous, who was seen to best effect when successful over C&D last month and could find this set up nicely again from stall 4, while Showering posted by far his best effort when winning here on penultimate start and looks worth another chance.
