Smart handicapper ran well when fifth in the Duke of Edinburgh at Royal Ascot and didn't need to improve upon that form to record a game success there (12f) nearly 6 weeks ago. 5 lb higher mark demands more but remains relatively unexposed.

Smart handicapper who has made an encouraging start for current yard, posting excellent third of 18 in Duke of Edinburgh at Royal Ascot (1½m). Not seen to best effect in John Smith's Cup but made a much better fist of it with a true gallop when second of 18 at Goodwood (9.9f) latest. Much respected.

Ran right up to that form when opening his account for the season at Ayr (13.1f) in June, well positioned tracking the pace. Finished well held in a well-contested handicap at Newmarket next time but quickly put that behind him when third in 10-runner contest at Ascot (12f) 13 days ago.

Ended last season on a high, winning at Goodwood before a good second in an Ascot handicap on final start. Not seen to best effect in well-contested handicaps both starts this season, so not one to write off, especially with the drop back in trip likely to be in his favour.

Cranked it up another notch when winning 4-runner conditions stakes at Southwell (11.1f) in January. However, more miss than hit since, beaten by more than the trip alone at Newmarket (14f) on most recent outing in July. Has been gelded subsequently.

Useful sort who was rightly awarded the race over C&D in June, first past the post rightly disqualified due to his rider's overuse of the whip. Ran creditably from a 4 lb higher mark in Old Newton Cup at Haydock before turning in a rare poor effort back over C&D last time. Should bounce back.

A fairly useful dual winner in France in 2022. Winless for current yard though, and was off the bridle a long way out in Northumberland Plate at Newcastle on most recent outing in this sphere. Ran up to best back over hurdles when second in a Galway maiden last month but is pretty much exposed.

Quickly returned to form back on less testing ground when fifth of 10 in handicap at Ascot (12f, good to firm) 13 days ago, despite not being ideally placed. Can give another good account.

Won this corresponding event in 2023 and ran well when second of 7 in handicap at Doncaster (10.2f, good to firm) 49 days ago, albeit suited by way race developed. First run for yard after leaving Kevin Ryan.

Finished a respectable fifth in John Smith's Cup here in July but below form last 2 starts. Feasibly treated on pick of form if he can bounce back.

FRENCH DUKE hasn't been seen to anything like best effect in a pair of well-contested handicaps this season and could well have a bigger performance in him given he's still lightly raced, particularly now returned to a more suitable trip. Naqeeb and Mount Atlas arrive in excellent heart and warrant plenty of respect, also.
