Shade below par when sixth of 10 in handicap (7/1) at Haydock (7f, good to firm) 27 days ago. In good form prior to that, but one or two of these make more appeal for win purposes.

12/1
C&D winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2024. Fifth of 7 in handicap at Lingfield (5f, good, 9/4) 23 days ago. Best not judged on that performance (reared leaving the stalls and entered traffic problems at the business end of the race) and he's one to consider back up in trip here.

C&D winner. Latest win at York in July. Below form sixth of 10 in handicap at Newmarket (6f, good to soft, 9/4) 12 days ago. Capable of playing a leading role off this mark, but he's another that may find a couple too strong on this occasion.

7/1, respectable second of 10 in handicap at this C&D 31 days ago, enhancing his fine record on the AW (has failed to make the frame just once from 11 starts on artificial surfaces). Likely to be on the premises once again.

Five-time course winner. 28/1, good third of 10 in handicap at Catterick (7f, good) 15 days ago, having run of race. Latest success gained off this mark and he's in with an each-way shout back at 6f.

9/1, career best when winning 9-runner handicap at Haydock (6f, good) 13 days ago. This 4-y-o still has relatively low mileage in sprinting terms and, if able to reproduce form akin to that Haydock success now switched to tapeta, she could have a part to play off this 3 lb higher mark.

20/1
Last of 13 in handicap (33/1) at Ascot (6f, firm) 20 days ago and, though by no means a lost cause judged on his peak form, it's pretty easy to look elsewhere.

4/1
C&D winner. Fifth of 8 in handicap (4/1) at Epsom (6f, good to firm) 21 days ago. Her record on the AW is pretty solid (out of the frame just once from 9 starts on synthetics) and she merits respect.

Course winner. Latest win at Salisbury in June. 6/1, respectable third of 8 in handicap at Newmarket (5f, good to firm) 13 days ago. Back up in trip and she looks vulnerable for win purposes.

Latest win at Hamilton in July. 28/1, below form eleventh of 18 in handicap at Ayr (6f, good to soft) 10 days ago. On a good mark based on his form from a couple of seasons back, but operates below that level nowadays.

Five wins from 19 Flat runs. Good second of 8 in handicap at Ayr (5f, good to firm, 15/8) 17 days ago. Return to this trip will not be an issue at all, but she remains 5 lb above her last winning mark and may find this a shade too competitive.

Forecasts

Scarboroughwarning (4/1), Intervention (5/1), Aberama Gold (5/1), Stanley Spencer (6/1), Noble Victory (15/2), Supreme King (12/1), Raffles Angel (12/1), The Thames Boatman (12/1), Chuti Manika (16/1), Eternal Sunshine (20/1), Coup De Force (20/1), Rebel Empire (20/1), Monsieur Kodi (40/1)

17:45 Wolverhampton - 31 July 2025 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

There wasn't much between STANLEY SPENCER and Scarboroughwarning when they filled the places in the C&D handicap won by Crestofdistinction last month, and there probably won't be much in it this time either. Both have strong claims and marginal preference is for Stanley Spencer, who earns top marks for consistency. The Thames Boatman scores highly in that regard, too, and he shouldn't be far away, while likely pace angles Chuti Manika and Intervention are also fairly appealing.
