Made it 3 wins from his last 4 starts at York last month but found his run of form coming to an abrupt halt at that track subsequently. Best excused latest run at Ripon when short of room but still needs to prove he can win from a mark this high.

All-weather winner last December over 12f but not in the same form the following month when fifth of 10 in handicap (22/1) at Southwell (12.1f), unable to sustain what had looked a promising effort. Has been competitive in better company than this on turf and is worth a market check on return.

Went the wrong way temperamentally for Peter Chapple-Hyam and virtually refused to race on final start for that yard in December 2023. Tongue strap back on for stable debut after long absence and clearly isn't one to hang your hat on.

Ran well down in grade when runner-up at Beverley earlier this month but found out in a better race when seventh of 9 in handicap at York (10.2f, good to firm) 16 days ago. Remains below his last winning mark and ought to be more competitive eased slightly in grade.

Moved through the race as if capable of defying this sort of mark when third over 10f at Ayr in May but well below form subsequently, again getting warm before the start when eighth of 10 in handicap at Ayr (10f) 21 days ago. Could be the pace angle and remains well treated.

Off the mark on handicap debut at Redcar (10f) in May and has performed respectably over this trip in a higher grade at Chester since. Again didn't fully convince with his stamina over 12f at Thirsk earlier this month but has solid claims back down in trip and grade.

Turned in his best effort of the season down in grade when winning a 9-runner handicap at Beverley (9.9f, good) 12 days ago, suited by strong gallop (third has won since). Isn't guaranteed to get as much pace here but is entitled to respect despite the step up in class.

Twenty five runs since last win in 2021 but had been in good form this season prior to finishing 10/1, eleventh of 12 in handicap at Carlisle (11.2f, heavy) 22 days ago. Overall strike-rate tempers enthusiasm.

Placed in an all-weather maiden prior to being outclassed on handicap debut. Back on track down in grade with cheekpieces on for first time, third of 5 at Doncaster (10.2f) 30 days ago but didn't look straightforward (flashed tail). Remains to be seen if change of headgear has the desired effect.

Forecasts

Raulin (85/40), Pol Roger (4/1), Time Tells All (5/1), Dawn Of Liberation (13/2), Up The Jazz (15/2), Masekela (10/1), Looks Fantastic (10/1), Desert Emperor (25/1), Sayf Al Dawla (66/1)

15:25 Pontefract - 27 July 2025 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Already a winner over 1¼m this season, RAULIN should appreciate returning to this trip back down in class. He's preferred to Pol Roger who could be the pace angle in this race and has previously shaped as if capable of defying this sort of mark, while Up The Jazz remains below his last winning mark and ought to be more competitive eased slightly in grade.
