Enjoyed a good spell on the level since the turn of the year, gaining a third victory over 10f here in April. Respectable efforts on 2 of his 3 starts since, sixth of 17 in handicap at York (10.2f) 20 days ago, never nearer. Possibilities back at this longer trip.

Twelve runs since last win in 2024 but bounced back and did well under the circumstances having conceded first run when second over C&D 2 starts back. Latest Beverley fourth not so good but no surprise to see a better showing with cheekpieces back on.

Lightly-raced maiden on Flat who didn't kick on from handicap hurdle success for Gordon Elliott last autumn. Failed to complete on 4 of 5 starts in that sphere having joined present stable this year and percentage call is to look elsewhere

Flat/hurdles winner earlier in his career but not been pulling up any trees under both codes since joining present stable, beaten long way out when ninth of 12 in handicap at Chester (15.9f, good) 48 days ago. Quickly drops back in trip but he has it to prove in any case.

Maiden who has performed well in all 4 outings for current yard, unlucky to bump into a completely unexposed 3-y-o (who has gone in again since) when second of 11 in handicap at Ayr (13.1f) 11 days ago. Needs considering back in trip.

Likeable mare who enhanced her excellent Beverley record when seeing off 5-rivals over 10f there 13 days ago, well served by the strong gallop. Effective at this longer trip and 2 lb rise looks fair but this does look a deeper race.

Forecasts

Paper Doll (13/8), Kitsune Power (9/4), It's A Love Thing (11/4), Perseus Way (14/1), Dandy's Angel (14/1), Leading Lion (66/1)

20:25 Pontefract - 18 July 2025 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

PAPER DOLL hasn't got many miles on the clock for a 5-y-o and again cemented the good start made for her new stable when runner-up at Ayr 11 days ago, finding only a thriving 3-y-o, who has gone in again since, too good. She can gain compensation here, with Kitsune Power heading up the dangers. Dandy's Angel and It's A Love Thing complete the shortlist.
