Improved again to land a hat-trick on seasonal reappearance when winning at Warwick (19f) and matched that form when a narrow runner-up over a longer trip there in May. Again ran well (despite saddle slipping) when fourth at Market Rasen last time. Should be in the mix if seeing out longer trip.

Shaped as if retaining all his ability following 10 months off when third in a 25.4f Cartmel handicap (had won the race twice previously) in May, having been well served by the emphasis on stamina. Respected if arriving in similar form but would ideally want more pace on here.

Lightly raced in recent seasons and scored over hurdles from a reduced mark at Aintree in May. Still on a winning mark when showing improved form back over fences to land a 4-runner Worcester chase (20f) last month. Reverts to hurdles over a longer trip but hat-trick not ruled out in current form.

Ended a 2-year losing run on first start following a breathing operation when landing a 0-120 at Haydock (24.3f) in March. Typically not helped by his jumping when running to form on two subsequent starts, without looking like winning. Chance if first-time cheekpieces sharpen up his jumping.

Snapped a losing run when getting on top in the shadow of the post at Carlisle (19.3f) in April but found out up in class on two subsequent runs. Quickly finds himself back on the same mark as when winning in April but this is a tougher race. Improvement needed in change of headgear.

Has a good record fresh and was better than ever returning from 7 months off when winning a Ludlow handicap (23.8f) in April. Has held his form despite coming up short in small-fields on next two starts. Ought to be competitive again.

Resumed winning ways in 13-runner handicap hurdle at Exeter (23f, good to soft) last autumn. Off 7 months and in the process of running well (close up in third) when unseating 3 out at Worcester in May. Given a break and not to be taken lightly if none the worse for that tumble.

Runner-up to a progressive sort from the Olly Murphy yard on latest hurdles start in April (Perth, 20f) prior to making a successful chase debut (race fell apart) at Ffos Las the following month. Jumped poorly second time up over fences but remains to be interested in on most recent hurdles form.

Forecasts

King Roly (3/1), Kitesurfer (9/2), Prince Imperial (5/1), Ile De Jersey (11/2), Imperial Merlin (15/2), Willaston (15/2), Earth King (10/1), Wbee (16/1)

19:30 Uttoxeter - 8 July 2025 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A competitive handicap, KING ROLY could be worth another chance returning to hurdles having chased home a progressive sort when last seen in this sphere. He appeals most stepping back up in trip, while Imperial Merlin could be interesting now tried in headgear, having been let down by his jumping since winning at Haydock in March. Prince Imperial arrives in fine heart and would have finished closer had his saddle not slipped latest, while Wbee could go well if this becomes a test of stamina.
