Lightly-raced 4-y-o ran his best race to date when runner-up at Haydock in May and was possibly amiss when stepped up to 1½m at Doncaster last month, finished well beaten over a trip he isn't bred to stay. May well bounce back returned to 1¼m.

Back to her best at Windsor earlier this season but again failed to see out her raced stepped over 12f when fifth of 7 in handicap at Salisbury (good to firm, 5/1) 20 days ago. Chance down in trip.

Creditable third in all-weather handicap last season under Oisin Murphy but failed to back that up next time. Too keen on reappearance when sixth of 8 in handicap (6/1) at Wolverhampton (12.2f) 39 days ago. Entitled to be more competitive here.

Little impact in 7f/1m maidens but showed more on handicap debut under a front-running ride when third at Pontefract (10f). Ran too badly to be true when last of 11 in handicap at Hamilton (11.1f). Drops back in trip and could be worth another chance with tongue strap on first time.

Travels strongly but doesn't always find as much as looks likely under pressure. Arrives in good heart, again running creditably to finish second of 3 in handicap at Pontefract (10f, good, 15/8) 13 days ago. Should be in the mix again.

Again below form (under a change of tactics) when eighth of 12 in handicap at Kempton (11f) 24 days ago. Needs to improve on return to turf.

Remains below form of last season but did step up on his comeback run when third of 11 in handicap at Chepstow (8.1f, good to firm) 19 days ago. Interesting if he can build on that back over 10f.

First turf start since juvenile year when third of 9 in handicap (80/1) at this C&D (good to firm) 23 days ago, running on. That remains only poor form and he'll need to step forward to win this.

Forecasts

Shady Bay (5/2), Hawa Jumeirah (3/1), San Francisco Bay (4/1), Kokinelli (8/1), Desert Of The Sea (8/1), Steps In Time (10/1), Wadacre Giorgio (18/1), Bondi Man (20/1)

20:53 Nottingham - 5 July 2025 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

In an open-looking contest, it could pay to take a chance on SAN FRANCISCO BAY who stepped up on his reappearance run when third at Chepstow last month and is well handicapped on his best form from last season. Desert of the Sea showed promise on handicap debut prior to running too badly to be true last time and could be worth another chance in a first time tongue tie, while the quirky Hawa Jumeirah arrives in fine heart and may prove best of the rest.
