Steady improvement in maidens but showed much improved form when nearly justifying support on handicap debut, narrowly beaten at Kempton (1m) travelled enthusiastically and pulled clear of rest. Unable to match that form back on turf (too keen) at Sandown 35 days ago. Could be worth another chance.

Made a winning handicap debut over 7f here under William Buick last August and bounced back from a trio of down-the-field efforts when fifth of 14 in handicap (33/1) at this C&D (good to firm) 21 days ago. Remains to be seen if she's in the same form here.

Steadily improved in maidens, shaping as though the step up to a mile will suit when fourth of 16 in a novice at Doncaster (7f, good to firm) 26 days ago. That form reads well in this company and she remains open to improvement on handicap debut.

Gelded prior to handicap debut and went like the best horse at the weights when third in a 9-runner handicap at Windsor (1m) on reappearance (form has taken some knocks). Not seen to best effect when meeting trouble in running at Newbury last month and remains of interest in first time cheekpieces.

Remains a maiden after 9 starts though ran about as well as he has when third of 7 in handicap at this course (7f, good to firm) 9 days ago, carried head awkwardly final furlong. Ought to be competitive on that form but isn't one for maximum faith.

Related to a couple of useful types and again shaped as if capable of winning a handicap at this level when narrow runner-up over C&D 3 weeks ago, travelled with zest. That looks solid form and he may be able to get off the mark here.

Hasn't built on promising debut at Kempton last season. Unsuited by the track (and possibly the drop in trip) when last of 8 in maiden (9/1) at Ripon (6f, good to firm) 15 days ago, slowly away. Up in trip/hooded for handicap debut and one to keep an eye on for market support.

Winner at Lingfield in April but consistent rather than progressive since, 7/2, creditable fourth of 10 in handicap at Bath (8f, good to firm) 19 days ago, well positioned. Will need to improve from 1 lb out of the handicap.

Forecasts

Something Splendid (2/1), Winston's Warrior (4/1), Tapioca Pearl (4/1), Boubyan (9/2), Tolerance (12/1), Yuvraaj (14/1), Geo (16/1), Travel Agent (18/1), Sharma D'amour (28/1)

20:25 Newbury - 3 July 2025 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

SOMETHING SPLENDID was a solid second over C&D 3 weeks ago, pulling clear of the rest, and could be ready to get off the mark. Winston's Warrior may be worth another chance to build on the promise of his handicap debut and he's feared most ahead of Boubyan, who shaped with promise at Windsor on seasonal reappearance and remains of interest in first time headgear. Tapioca Pearl could be the improver on handicap debut.
