5-time C&D winner never looked like capitalising on lower turf mark when slowly away last time, third of 5 in handicap at Lingfield (10f, good to firm) 30 days ago. Should be competitive returned to this track.

2/1
Promising individual who showed benefit of debut experience when winning 4-runner maiden (8/13) at Lingfield (10f, AW) in February last year, with plenty in hand. Step forward again on return from 10 months off when third over C&D in December, clear of rest. Unexposed now handicapping.

Temperamental sort hasn't managed to beat many in 3 outings so far this season. Again goes without usual headgear over this markedly shorter trip and while this looks easier than the races he has been contesting, he still has something to prove.

Not for the first time looked a tricky ride when eleventh of 13 in handicap at Chester (7f, good) 43 days ago, slowly away. Significantly back up in trip but will need to improve on two disappointing efforts this season.

50/1
Course winner whose form of late has been patchier than earlier in his career. Seemed to be struggling when short of room and eased when last of 11 in handicap at Ripon (9.8f, good) 21 days ago. Remains to be seen whether the return of cheekpieces can spark an improved effort.

15/8
Dual-novice winner at Newcastle on first 2 starts (a year apart). Best run to date when good second of 12 in handicap at Hamilton (9.2f, good) 14 days ago, having conceded first run to the winner. Slightly longer trip should suit and looks to have solid claims back on the all-weather.

Useful form in France for M. Delzangles in 2023 but operating way below that level in two starts (a year apart) for Owen Burrows. Seemingly isn't the easiest to keep sound and has a bit to find with tongue strap refitted.

Twice a winner on the all-weather this year and ran creditably back on turf when second of 5 in handicap (18/1) at Lingfield (11.6f, good to firm) 40 days ago. Should be competitive from this mark.

Course winner. 3 wins from 9 runs this year. Career best when winning 13-runner handicap (9/1) at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 23 days ago by neck from Bearaway, the beneficiary of an excellent ride (got across to make all from the widest stall). Remains to be seen if he can repeat the feat.

2 wins from 6 runs this year. Latest win at Lingfield in February. Improved on stable debut run when 10/3, good neck second of 13 to Star Pupil in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 23 days ago, better placed than most. That was his best run for a while and he should in the mix again.

Forecasts

Indalo (15/8), Jolly Jack Tar (2/1), Bearaway (11/2), Valiabad (10/1), Wadacre Gomez (11/1), Charlie's Choice (18/1), Star Pupil (25/1), Koy Koy (28/1), Wahraan (28/1), Arthur's Realm (50/1)

16:35 Chelmsford City - 19 June 2025 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

INDALO seemingly hasn't been the easiest to train but he produced his best effort to date when runner-up at Hamilton 2 weeks ago and has strong claims if in similar form here. Jolly Jack Tar looks a potential improver on handicap debut for top connections and he's feared most ahead of Bearaway, who ran his best race for a while when chasing home Star Pupil last time.
