1 win from 3 runs this year, ran right up to his best when winning 8-runner handicap at Hamilton (8.3f, good, 9/4) 19 days ago, ridden out near finish having had run of race. Faces very different ground conditions over this slightly longer trip and has more on his plate from 3 lb higher.

Posted a few creditable efforts at Hamilton last season but below form when last seen on Flat prior to being pulled up in handicap hurdle at Southwell (15.8f, good, 28/1) last November. Conditions no problem but needs to bounce back following 6 months off.

Offered something to work with on debut at Musselburgh and has been given two very considerate rides on subsequent starts in maiden/novice company, again not given a hard time at all when a 100/1 sixth in an 11-runner novice over C&D last month. Looks the type to improve now handicapping.

Has won a race in each of his previous seasons (scored over C&D in soft ground last August from 2 lb higher) and has been knocking on the door this season, runner-up on quick ground previous two starts. One to consider back in testing conditions.

Mugged on the line in 9-runner handicap at Beverley (8.4f) on penultimate start but made amends when getting more cover last time, won 10-runner handicap at Pontefract (10f, good) 7 days ago by 1¾ lengths from We Still Believe. Carries penalty but could still be ahead of the handicapper.

Eleven runs since last win in 2023 and has made no impact in 3 starts for current connections, looking a tricky ride when 50/1, eighth of 10 in handicap at Ripon (12f, good) 18 days ago. Back down in trip with cheekpieces refitted but has plenty to prove.

On a long losing run but his handicap mark reflects that and he's ran creditably over 1m on good ground on previous two starts. All his wins have come on soft/heavy ground and he's not ruled out returned to more testing conditions.

3-time C&D winner but has been out of sorts this season, eleventh of 12 in handicap (16/1) at Hamilton (9.2f, good) 11 days ago. Blinkers back on and they need to spark a revival.

Unreliable sort. C&D winner but only fair at best on the Flat and was below form on last Flat run. Finished well beaten last of 6 in novice hurdle at Sedgefield (19.8f, firm) 34 days ago. Cheekpieces back on for return to the Level but difficult to make a positive case for.

Turned in his best effort of the season when 1¾ lengths second of 10 to Distinction in handicap at Pontefract (10f, good, 9/2) 7 days ago, would have fared better with a cleaner run through. Meets that rival on better terms here and has won on soft ground. Merits consideration.

Wasn't disgraced in two Flat runs last month and was back to something like his best over jumps when bumping into a handicap blot, second of 9 in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (15.8f, good to soft, 14/1) 11 days ago, no match for winner. Should be competitive returning to the Flat.

Won the first of 2 starts in juvenile hurdles for this yard (modest form, without usual headgear) but disappointing with cheekpieces refitted when 11/1, ninth of 11 in handicap at this course (11.2f, good to soft) 17 days ago. Headgear remains but needs to find significant improvement.

Forecasts

Tee Aitch Aye (16/5), Poet's Dawn (4/1), Harswell Duke (13/2), Distinction (13/2), Swift Salian (8/1), We Still Believe (9/1), Russian Virtue (11/1), Detective (12/1), Berry Edge (14/1), Freedom Day (25/1), Gainsbourg (28/1), Game Management (40/1)

17:25 Carlisle - 16 June 2025 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A competitive handicap and it could be worth taking a chance on TEE AITCH EYE who was tenderly handled on his previous two starts and could be open to improvement on his first start in a handicap. He's most interesting, particularly if the market speaks in his favour, while Distinction looks rock solid following his recent win and could still be ahead of the handicapper despite carrying a 4 lb penalty. We Still Believe, who chased home Distinction last time, is respected on better terms.
