It's now 12 runs since his last win in 2023 but he's lightly-raced for a 6-y-o and performed with credit in some competitive handicaps last season (including here). Musselburgh reappearance effort was low-key but he isn't the type to stay down for long and better anticipated equipped with a visor.

Dual winner over hurdles upon joining present yard over the winter and, equipped with a visor/tongue strap, ran right up to his best in this sphere when runner-up in a C&D handicap 31 days ago. trainer/jockey combination bagged this prize 2 years ago and he's well worthy of consideration.

4-time winner on AW for David O'Meara who didn't fare at all badly in a couple of Southwell handicaps upon joining present yard around the turn of the year. Effective on turf and eased 2 lb ahead of this return from 5 months off but others appeal more on balance.

Back on the up with hold-up tactics re-employed when scoring at Ayr (10f) last July. Seen only 3 times since, not seen to best effect when fourth of 10 in handicap at Redcar (10f) 19 days ago. Cheekpieces go back on and he remains with unfinished business over this sort of trip. Interesting.

Didn't progress as expected after stylish debut win for Aidan O'Brien, but steadily found his feet for new yard, best effort when second in handicap at Ascot (12f) in May. Appeared to find 14f too far at Goodwood latest and drop back in trip an obvious plus ahead of this.

Lightly-raced 4-y-o who opened his account in a Haydock maiden over this sort of trip last summer. Off 10 months/gelded, shaped encouragingly when a running on fifth at Ascot (12f) 5 weeks ago, faring best of those held up. Remains pretty unexposed and he appeals as the type to build on that.

Successful 3 times at around 10f last season and has ran creditably on 2 of his 3 starts upon returning to action, no easy task in attempting to come from the back when third of 11 in handicap at Ripon (9.8f, good, 11/2) 16 days ago. Not ruled out tackling this longer trip.

Made it career win number 7 since joining James Owen last summer at Windsor (11.5f) in April but found step up in grade/career-high mark too much when eleventh of 12 in handicap at Kempton (12f) 17 days ago. Visor back on but this looks another tough ask.

In resurgent form following a spell over hurdles, landing amateur jockeys' handicaps at Chelmsford/Haydock at up to this sort of trip last month. Remains on a workable mark on his old form for all this is a whole lot more demanding than of late.

Boasts a particularly good record when fresh. proving as much on the back of 9 weeks off when successful at Wolverhampton (14f) in February. Fared creditably on both starts since, fourth of 10 in handicap at Southwell (16.5f) 48 days ago. Still others preferred back on turf/down in trip.

Losing run stretches back to 2023 but mark reflects that and he arrives on the back of a creditable third of 14 in handicap (18/1) at this C&D (good) 31 days ago. Another holding each-way claims.

Registered a fourth victory of 2024 at Redcar (10f) in September. Essentially running respectably in defeat this term, not beaten far when sixth of 7 in handicap at Wetherby (10f) 12 days ago. Remains lightly raced at this sort of trip and fallen back down to last winning mark ahead of this.

14:25 York - 14 June 2025 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

An interesting renewal with Sir Mark Prescott's BORN RULER narrowly selected to come out on top. Seemingly having a hopeless task from his position when fourth in last month's Zetland Gold Cup, he almost certainly remains in good form and the booking of Gina Andrews very much catches the eye. Maghlaak, for the trainer/jockey combination who won this 2 years ago, may emerge as the chief threat. Chillingham and My Dream World are others well worthy of a second look.
