33/1
Winning handicap hurdler who did better than in his first chase (also 0-14 points) when second in a 4-runner Perth hunter last month. However, that was still a rather modest effort all things considered and he was well held at Cartmel next time.

Winless following 8 runs over hurdles and well held first 2 starts in this sphere. Much more like it the last twice, though, finding just one too good in handicap chases at Down Royal (26.2f, good) and Downpatrick (23.7f, good), and this Irish raider is of interest here with Harry Cobden booked.

20/1
Low mileage point/hurdles winner who has hit the crossbar twice in this sphere, including on final run for James Ewart over this C&D last month (second to Kicksaftersix). On the downside, his profile is rather patchy and he was subsequently pulled up back here last weekend.

5/1
Very consistent type who is in the crest of a wave having completed a C&D hat-trick last month. Clearly in his element round here and while he's gone up a total of 16 lb for the 3 wins, it's not hard to envisage another bold show.

Finally capitalised on a falling mark at Cartmel last July, but this veteran is far from reliable nowadays and failed by a long chalk to reproduce that form in 2 starts during the autumn. Best watched starting out for new yard following an 8-month absence.

Tumbled down the weights and better signs the last twice, latterly finishing 5¼ lengths fourth of 10 to Kicksaftersix on chase debut over this C&D. Unexposed as a stayer and may build on that.

3/1
Dual winner in March (including over C&D) and did plenty in front when denied only by the re-opposing Kicksaftersix back here in April. Unseated rider in another C&D handicap won by that rival last month, but his jumping is usually on point and now meets Kicksaftersix on significantly better terms.

10/1
Runner-up both complete starts in maiden points and showed improved form over hurdles when twice placed in handicaps over 2½m/3m during the winter. Shaped well back from a break at Kelso last month and she could have a big part to play if her jumping passes the test now switched to fences.

Age: 8|  Weight: 10-6| J: Peter Kavanagh(3)| T: H Burns| OR:  76
5/1
Maiden hurdler/chaser who stepped up on yard debut when 7 lengths third to Kicksaftersix over C&D in April. Backed that up when third back here (2½m, good to soft) last weekend and now enjoys a sizeable swing at the weights with Kicksaftersix, so a case can certainly be made.

Best effort for a while when nailed close home by Kicksaftersix over C&D last month, but he was beaten a fair way at Cartmel 3 weeks ago and this veteran hasn't won a race since November 2020.

Possesses bits and pieces of form that suggest he could get competitive off this mark, but it's hard to ignore the fact that he remains winless following 25 attempts overall.

Placed a couple of times off higher marks over hurdles last spring, but not in the same form since and his efforts in this sphere to date have not been at all inspiring.

Forecasts

Halfway House Lad (3/1), Ballydangan (5/1), Kicksaftersix (5/1), Rob Roy Macgregor (6/1), College Causeway (15/2), Take A Hike (10/1), Wotsmyname (12/1), The King Of May (16/1), Iturgeon Du Breuil (18/1), Muroor (18/1), Community Rebel (20/1), Hold The Note (25/1), Shantou Moon (33/1)

17:28 Hexham - 14 June 2025 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A chance is taken on TAKE A HIKE, who makes her chase debut on a potentially handy mark and the fact that she was second in both completed starts between the flags augurs well ahead of this switch to the larger obstacles. Halfway House Lad has a very good chance of reversing April's C&D placings with Kicksaftersix on these revised terms and he is second choice ahead of that rival. Ballydangan and Rob Roy Macgregor both have each-way claims.
