Lightly-raced mare justified support to easily get off the mark in a 9-runner Newcastle handicap in April. Clearly going the right way having followed up off 8 lb higher over this C&D (good to firm) next time, but a further 6 lb rise could leave her vulnerable in this tougher race.

Would have a fighting chance off this mark if reproducing something akin to her peak form in Ireland for Peter Fahey. However, she didn't show anything on her debut for new connection, a poor effort even allowing for the fact that she was returning from 18 months off. Now tried in cheekpieces.

Some fair bit and pieces of form over hurdles, not least when third off 11 in a novices' handicap here on her penultimate start. She didn't offer much at the business end when again placed at Uttoxeter next time, though, and others make more appeal for win purposes.

Irish point winner who has produced her best efforts under Rules the last twice, finishing second in handicaps at Newcastle and Hexham, both at around this trip and on good ground. Likely to be on the premises once again.

Made the frame for first time when creditable fourth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Cork last month. Probably would've finished third but for falling 2 out at Southwell (24.3f, good) 10 days later and she has to enter calculations.

Bumper winner who finished third of 11 upped to 26.4f at Stratford on final run for David Brace last May. Failed to justify strong support on return/debut for new yard at Fontwell (19f, good) last month, but it was a creditable effort nonetheless and she will appreciate this step back up in trip.

Modest winning hurdler for Donald McCain a few years back. No show on comeback run for new yard in Sedgefield handicap hurdle in April and subsequently refused to race at Uttoxeter. Blinkers applied.

There was little promise initially in this sphere, but she shaped as though the penny was finally starting to drop when fifth of 13 at Ludlow (21.2f, good) in April. Confirmed that impression by seeing off Clover Pass and 3 others over the same C&D next time and 4 lb rise looks fair.

Has taken steps forward with the hood enlisted on her last 2 starts, finding just one too good in handicaps at Stratford (26.4f, good) and Ludlow (21.2f, good to firm). Shade more needed if she's to get her head in front here, but that's certainly not out of the question.

Veteran who hasn't got her head in front for over 2 years and while her efforts since undergoing a wind op confirm that there is some ability still there, she essentially looks vulnerable.

Placed twice in handicaps for Simon Earle in summer 2023 and good second at Stratford (2¾m, good to soft) on first completed start for this yard in March. Has failed to see things out both starts since, but a reproduction of that Stratford effort would give her a serious chance.

Winner of sole start between the flags, but that was back in February 2022 and she hasn't shown much in a handful of appearances under Rules so far.

Runner-up sole outing in points, but has offered little under Rules to this point and she's 11 lb 'wrong' at the weights for this handicap debut.

Forecasts

Newmill Getaway (15/8), Heather Honey (7/2), Lake's Aventurine (7/1), Killybegs Jet Lady (9/1), Nowyouvebinandunit (9/1), Hello Marie (12/1), Moonshine Girl (12/1), Clover Pass (12/1), Chatshow Host (20/1), Damekap (22/1), Pour The Wine (25/1), On We Go (33/1), My Little Toni (100/1)

16:40 Bangor-on-Dee - 6 June 2025 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

NEWMILL GETAWAY wasn't able to vindicate punters' faith on debut for the Fergal O'Brien yard following a year off last month, but she still performed with credit in finishing second to one who had the benefit of a race run under her belt. Stepping back up in trip looks a good move and she is taken to go one better this time, perhaps at the chief expense of Moonshine Girl. Others with reasonable claims include Killybegs Jet Lady and Ludlow 1-2 Lake's Aventurine and Clover Pass.
