Sea the Stars colt who opened his account on stable debut (following wind surgery) at Kempton in March. Has subsequently progressed again with solid placed efforts in back-to-back 7f Newmarket handicaps and another bold show is very much on the cards.

Intensively campaigned this year (this will be his fifteenth start of 2025) and has held his form remarkably well, winning 4 times and placed on all but 3 of his 11 other appearances. Wasn't beaten far when fifth of 14 over C&D (good) recently, but this 4 lb higher mark could prove problematic.

Improved on promise of final run in maiden company when down in distance to win at Newbury (6f, heavy) on handicap debut in October, testing conditions bringing his stamina into play. Wasn't seen to best effect on return at Newmarket (gelded since) but, even so, he may find this too competitive.

Won maiden/novice events over 7f at Newcastle this winter and ran about as well as could've been expected sent handicapping when fifth at Kempton (1m) in March. However, safely held on turf debut at Ascot and while this is a lower-grade handicap, he's likely to come up short once again.

Has some strong form on AW to his name and showed a good attitude when doubling his tally at Southwell (6f) in March. Didn't do much wrong when fourth in a 16-runner Ascot handicap (6f, firm) on recent turf debut, shaping as though this step up to 7f would be in his favour. Each-way shout.

Progressive in novice events last term, off the mark at third attempt at Newmarket in August. Failed to make an impact final 2 starts of 2024, but has made the frame in a couple of handicaps since returning to action last month and it would be no surprise at all to see him take a hand in the finish.

Winner at Southwell (6f) for William Haggas last August and runner-up on 2 of her 3 subsequent starts, including on debut for this yard at Doncaster (6f, heavy) when last seen in November. Seemingly versatile ground-wise and should pay her way this year, but others look stronger on this occasion.

Won 7f Kempton handicap in January and thereabouts on each of his 3 subsequent runs, posting arguably his best effort yet when a close third in a Class 2 Chester handicap (7.6f, good to soft) last time. Place possibilities here off an untouched mark.

Bagged an 11-runner nursery at Pontefract (6f, heavy) in October, on his first run since being gelded. By no means disgraced at Newmarket on final start of his 2-y-o campaign, but this is a tough starting point for new yard following a 7-month break.

Back-to-back AW winner this spring and progressed again when excellent short-head second of 8 in handicap at Ripon last month. Probably fair to say that his subsequent third at Beverley (7.4f, good to firm) wasn't quite at the same level, but his mileage remains low and he's not discounted.

Hit the target at Newcastle (7f) last summer and while he failed to go on from that in 3 subsequent starts at 2 yrs, there were certainly positives to take from his recent reappearance/handicap debut fourth at Haydock (7f, good to firm). Not without each-way hope off the same mark.

Still looked in need of experience but confirmed debut promise when winning 10-runner novice at Southwell (7f) in December, well on top at the finish. Resumed with a solid second to the re-opposing Frankies Dream on handicap bow at Doncaster (7f, good) and she may have more to offer.

Upwardly mobile filly who followed up her breakthrough Wolverhampton victory in taking fashion at Southwell (7f) in April. Fared comfortably best of those held up (left with too much to do) when fifth at Lingfield last month and a line can be drawn through latest effort. One to consider.

Bagged third win of 2024 at Kempton in November and, having failed to fire on first 2 starts of this season, she took a step back in the right direction when sixth of 11 in a 7f Haydock handicap 9 days ago. However, some of these boast more appealing credentials all the same.

Bettered debut effort when successful at Chelmsford in January and sound second starting out on turf at Wetherby last month. Almost unshipping her rider leaving the stalls at Goodwood last time, so that run can be overlooked, but she needs to raise her game here in any case.

Stepped up on his maiden/novice form when fifth in a handicap here over 6f and another upped to 7f at Chester last summer. Probably best to overlook his reappearance effort here (5f, good), but a sizeable step forward will be needed if he's to get in the shake-up in this contest.

Showed fair level of ability as a 2-y-o and kicked on this season, going close on return at Beverley prior to a narrow success at Doncaster (1m, good) at the end of last month. Again performed with credit when third at Nottingham 3 weeks ago and she's not without each-way hope.

15:50 York - 31 May 2025 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

WHITE CROWN STAR has followed his Kempton reappearance success with a couple of rock-solid efforts at Newmarket, and the form of his latest third has been subsequently boosted by the two that beat him. The return to a sharper track will suit this strong-traveller and he gets the nod ahead of Hunky Dory, who was well adrift of the selection last time, but that was his seasonal reappearance and better is now expected. Coul Angel is third choice ahead of Cairdeas and Party Bear.
