€52,000 3-y-o, Great Pretender gelding. Half-brother to numerous winners, including French chaser King Goubert and fairly useful hurdler/chaser Enjoy Your Life. Dual winning pointer, runner-up last time (Mar 23) and merits respect setting out under Rules in a weak hunter. Wears cheekpieces.

Modest performer on the Flat (stays 1m) who wasn't beaten far with a tongue strap retained on his sole hurdle start for Tim Easterby in October 2023. Has finished second on his sole outing in points subsequently and worth a market check ahead of hunter debut.

Shaped well in a couple of low-level handicap hurdles for Iain Jardine in May 2023, but comfortably held all 3 starts for current yard last spring and finished last of 3 on most recent outing in points. Probably up against it.

Forecasts

Wallace Olinger (4/5), Dr Lockdown (4/1), Great Notions (11/2), Amma Lord (10/1), Pete The Brief (11/1), Tanora (11/1), Torngat (25/1), Something Golden (50/1), Up With The Play (80/1)

17:15 Hexham - 10 May 2025 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

WALLACE OLINGER failed to land the odds on his hunter/Rules debut at Leicester in February, but it was still an encouraging start all the same and he's a straightforward choice to go one better in a weak race. Great Notions has hit the target twice in points and merits respect setting out under Rules at a decidedly ordinary level, with Pete The Brief possibly the one to fill the places.
