SURPASS AND SHINE ended last season on the up, finding just one too good in handicaps at Leopardstown and Cork prior to encountering traffic problems over this C&D on his final run of the campaign. Granted better luck this time, the 4-y-o may well gain a deserved first success. Rathbranchurch has edged down to an attractive mark and is second choice ahead of Mount Ruapehu, while Gazelle d'Or, who won twice as a 2-y-o, and top-weight Gordon Bennett are others to consider.
