6/1
C&D winner who isn't a fluent jumper but is top-class on his day, finishing runner-up in this race for second consecutive season 12 months ago. Resumed with a solid third in Old Roan in October and, despite failing to complete all 3 starts since, a return to this venue makes him of real interest.

14/1
Course winner who very much caught the eye when second on return at Exeter in November and built on that to score twice in Grade 2 company, latterly the Denman Chase at Newbury (23.4f) in February. Didn't fire in last month's Ryanair at Cheltenham though, and others make more appeal now.

5/1
Very smart chaser who made a winning reappearance in Grade 3 company at Tramore (22.7f) on New Year's Day and gave a good account of himself when sixth behind Galopin des Champs in Irish Gold Cup the following month. Each-way possibilities.

11/4
Top-class chaser who ran out an impressive winner of last season's Arkle at Cheltenham and resumed with a creditable second at Leopardstown over Christmas. Never threatened when third in Dublin Chase in February but comes here fresh having missed the Festival and he's unexposed at this sort of trip.

Took really well to fences last term, winning the Turners at Cheltenham. Excellent second in Betfair Chase on return and quick to prove his King George running all wrong when a most impressive winner from the front in Premier Chase at Kelso (23.4f) last month. Big player back at Grade 1 level.

11/1
Top class chaser (Grade 1 winner as a novice) who posted his best effort since landing last season's Paddy Power Gold Cup when runner-up in Gr. 2 Cotswold Chase (25.2f) in January. Marked longer trip posed no problem then and respected for a yard boasting an excellent record in this race.

12/1
Grade 1 winner as a novice at the 2023 Cheltenham Festival and back to that sort of level when making all in the Charlie Hall at Wetherby (3m, good) in November. Respectable fourth in King George next time but found the going too tough when fifth in last month's Gold Cup. Others preferred.

Forecasts

Grey Dawning (9/4), Gaelic Warrior (11/4), Spillane's Tower (3/1), Embassy Gardens (5/1), Ahoy Senor (6/1), Stage Star (11/1), The Real Whacker (12/1), Djelo (14/1)

14:55 Aintree - 3 April 2025 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

GREY DAWNING was straight back to his zestful best on his first start since the King George when registering a smooth success in listed company at Kelso in March and, with this on his radar for some time, Dan Skelton's charge is fancied to make a bold bid to land a second Grade 1. Irish raider Spillane's Tower has been given a break since Christmas and he heads up the dangers. Ahoy Senor, twice a runner-up in this race, and Stage Star can also feature.
