Winning hurdler who improved over fences last season, his second C&D victory coming in Grade 2 Pendil 12 months ago. Found to be lame when last of 5 in Aintree Grade 1 on final start in April but he returns to action/handicaps with yard in good form.

Smashing start over fences last year, a fourth success in this sphere coming in the Summer Plate at Market Rasen (21.4f) in July. Resumed with a creditable fifth in Grand Sefton at Aintree in November but undone by early mistakes on latest start at Doncaster 4 weeks ago.

Smart form as a novice in 2022/23, winning twice including C&D Grade 2. Lightly raced since, stepping up on his reappearance effort when fourth in handicap at Ascot (18.8f) in December. Not in quite same form when fifth having rare crack at 2m at Sandown latest but his mark has eased a little more.

Rapid improver sent chasing last term, winning first 3 starts. Low-key start to present campaign but firm step back in the right direction when third of 6 in handicap chase at Sandown (15.5f, heavy) 3 weeks back. Worth a look on the back of that now upped in trip.

Excuses on return to action at Carlisle (2m) in October but firmly back on track with a tongue strap refitted since, winning handicaps at Ludlow/Ffos Las in recent months. This undoubtedly tougher back up in trip from career-high mark but he's evidently in rude health.

Both wins over fences gained here, including when making all over 2¼m (good to soft) on return in October. Remained in good form since, again making the frame when third of 5 in handicap chase at Newbury (16.4f) 66 days ago. Step back up in trip can help.

Landed a 21f maiden hurdle here back in May and further progress sent chasing this year, following up in novices' handicap at Wincanton (25.1f) prior to finishing a very good second over 3m here 15 days ago, jumping boldly and going down only to a thriving sort. Big shout again.

Fairly useful winning hurdler who has frustratingly yet to get his head in front on these shores, again making the frame when second at Southwell (20.4f) in December. Shaped as if still in good form in first-time blinkers before falling 5 out at Ascot (21f) latest and he's not ruled out.

Won all 4 of his starts (at up to 19.8f) when completing during 2022/23. Found things tougher last term but did shape better than on return despite seemingly finding 3m taxing his stamina when third at Sandown 4 weeks ago. Handicapper has given him a chance ahead of this.

Forecasts

Ideal Des Bordes (10/3), Blow Your Wad (7/2), Keep Running (11/2), Bad (6/1), Bourbali (6/1), Etalon (15/2), Solo (16/1), Black Gerry (22/1), Sure Touch (33/1)

16:10 Kempton - 22 February 2025 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Having showed improved form to make a winning chase debut at Wincanton, IDEAL DES BORDES progressed again when chasing home a fellow, thriving sort over 3m here 2 weeks ago. Appealing as the type to do better still, he earns the vote to quickly resume winning ways. Bad has the ability to play a part and is feared along with Bourbali. Top-weight Blow Your Wad is an intriguing runner returning from a spell on the sidelines.
