€25,000 yearling, Shaman gelding. Closely related to useful winner up to 6f Shamsaya and half-brother to several winners, including useful 2-y-o 5f winner Gussy Mac. Market should point the way.

10/11
Twice-raced colt. 10/3, second of 11 in maiden at this course (7.1f) 44 days ago. That had the look of a decent contest and he should make a bold bid to go one better with this drop to 6f seemingly a good move.

3/1
Lightly-raced gelding. Good second of 10 in maiden (10/3) at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 14 days ago, running on. Reproduction of that effort would surely see him in the shake-up.

Twice-raced gelding. 80/1, fifth of 7 in maiden at this course (8f) 7 days ago. Back down in trip and he looks set for another struggle.

Galileo Gold gelding. Half-brother to winner abroad by Kessaar. Dam 7f winner. Worth a second look in the betting.

Twice-raced gelding. 100/1, seventh of 9 in maiden at Southwell (5f) 16 days ago, merely passing beaten rivals. Back up in trip. Will qualify for handicaps after this run and will be of greater interest when going down that route.

5,000 gns foal, Rajasinghe filly. Half-sister to 3 winners, including 6f-1m winner Eloquent Arthur and 8.6f-13.5f winner Rebel Angel. Yard rarely strikes with newcomers and probably best watched this time.

Twice-raced filly. 16/1, seventh of 9 in novice at Thirsk (6f, good), not knocked about. Off 7 months and she's probably more of a handicapping prospect.

Twice-raced filly. 13/2 and hooded for 1st time, second of 12 in maiden at this course (5f) 21 days ago. Should have more to offer and she's a must for the shortlist.

Forecasts

Lord Capulet (10/11), Fan Mail (3/1), Gorgeous Mr George (9/2), Volendam (7/1), Last Shamardal (11/1), Sharon Curly (33/1), Martha Costello (33/1), Toosexyformysocks (66/1), Triple Wishes (150/1), Galtee (200/1), Spirit Of Newlife (250/1)

17:25 Newcastle - 15 February 2025 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

The drop to 6f looks a good move for LORD CAPULET, who gave it a good shot from the front in a 7f maiden here last time, in what was probably a stronger race than this. Conversely, Volendam is moving up in trip after also finding just one too good here in January and, with further improvement on the cards, she could be the biggest threat to the selection. Fan Mail is best of the rest, though confidence behind any of the newcomers in the betting would be worthy of note.
