Did well over fences last term, his highlight coming when a fine second in Plate Handicap at the Cheltenham Festival. Never figured on return over hurdles in the autumn but shaped as if back in good heart returned to chasing when third at Windsor (2m) 3 weeks ago. Step back up in trip a plus here.

Ran out a fine winner of the Red Rum Handicap at Aintree back in April and posted creditable placed efforts on first 2 starts this season. Had excuses since, a switch to hold up tactics not seeming to suit when fifth in handicap chase at Windsor latest. Mark has eased now stepped back up in trip.

Signed off last term with success at Huntingdon in March and shaped better than distance beaten when third of 7 in handicap chase at Carlisle (20.9f, soft, 4/1) on return in December. Not at best when fourth in stronger company at Cheltenham 37 days ago but this more suitable with blinkers back on.

Won his only start of last season at Newbury (19.9f) and resumed from 12 months off with respectable placed efforts at Wetherby/Newbury. Reportedly bled when pulled up at Ascot on latest start but given a 48-day break ahead of this. Type to bounce back.

Dual Newbury winner at around 2m last winter who has returned to action in good order, reacting well to a positive ride when runner-up behind the upwardly-mobile Libberty Hunter at Cheltenham (16.3f) 55 days ago. Effective at this longer trip and not discounted from this sort of mark.

Very useful handicap chaser at his best, successful from 6 lb higher mark over 3m here 13 months ago. Low-key start to present campaign but showed more spark from his easing mark when third at Ascot (21f) 3 weeks ago. Record here a particularly good one and blinkers could put an extra edge on him.

Smart form as a novice and standout effort of an otherwise low-key campaign last season was his fine third in the 20.6f Plate at the Cheltenham Festival. No easy task from out of weights in Paddy Power on return but let down by jumping at Doncaster (3m) in December. Quickly back down in trip now.

Low-mileage 8-y-o who has won a pair of handicap chases around 2½m this autumn, impressing with his accurate jumping at Sandown. Good third in 8-runner C&D handicap 6 weeks ago, likely to have been closer still but for a bad mistake last. That looks solid form and he's one to consider.

Course winner who was successful twice in 2023/24. Good fifth in Red Rum at Aintree final start but is struggling to recapture his best form this term, seventh of 8 in handicap chase at Ffos Las (2m) 27 days ago. Tongue strap goes on now stepping back up in trip.

Fairly useful winner at 25f over hurdles for Nigel Twiston-Davies. Early faller on his return/chase debut starting out for new yard at Aintree (25f) 3 months ago and whilst this should reveal more, others make greater appeal. Engaged 4.30 Doncaster Thursday.

Flegmatik (2/1), El Rio (4/1), Issar D'Airy (13/2), Sans Bruit (9/1), Crebilly (10/1), Lounge Lizard (10/1), Triple Trade (11/1), Straw Fan Jack (12/1), Neon Moon (14/1), Galop De Chasse (16/1), Equinus (150/1)

15:25 Kempton - 7 February 2025 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

FLEGMATIK is now into the veteran stage but he displayed more spark than previously this season when a good third from his reduced mark at Ascot 3 weeks ago. Boasting an impressive record at this track, it's interesting connections now opt for first-time blinkers and he could be worth chancing to come out on top. El Rio has made a solid start over fences and he, along with Issar d'Airy and Crebilly head up the dangers in a competitive affair.
