Won a novice handicap hurdle this time last year and runner-up next 2 starts, albeit not looking the most enthusiastic, including with blinkers fitted (discarded here) at Fontwell (19.2f) in March. Still, he's lightly raced though, and not discounted on return to action.

Course winner who ran best race for some time having attracted support when second at Hereford (19.7f) in November. Cheekpieces on 1st time, again ran respectably when fourth of 6 in handicap over extended 20f trip here a month later and he's worth a second look.

Has been brought along steadily, outpaced early in the straight when sixth of 8 on qualifying run in Wetherby novice (2m) 2 months ago. Step back up in trip will suit now handicapping and he's the type his yard do well with. Market confidence behind him would look significant.

Perfect start in 3-runner newcomers' bumper at Fakenham (2m, soft) last winter. Brought along steadily in trio of novice/maiden hurdles at around 2m this winter and he's another who appeals as the type to do better now handicapping over this longer trip. One to note.

Posted good second (with hood on) in a Fontwell bumper on NH debut in September 2023. Lightly raced and only minor promise on first of 3 qualifying hurdle runs, going backwards from reappearance when pulled up at Lingfield (19.5f) in December. Hood refitted for handicap debut.

6-y-o who stepped up on his stable debut effort in June when fourth of 10 in handicap at Stratford (22f) a month later. Most disappointing when well beaten back at that venue in August and he needs to bounce back returning from a 5-month break.

Showed a bit more than he has for a while when fourth of 8 in handicap hurdle at Lingfield (23f) in November and subsequent run there a month later easily overlooked given he faced a stiff task from out of the weights. This more suitable back down in trip.

Still a maiden but posted a solid third on the back of 8 months off at Market Rasen (20.6f) in December. Got no further than the first at Doncaster (19.4f) 2 weeks ago and he's certainly not without each-way claims from his basement mark.

Veteran who remains winless following 26 starts overall (Flat and jumps). Off for the best part of 4 years before offering little both starts this winter. Hard to fancy.

Forecasts

Tramuntana (15/8), Jack The Savage (4/1), Sangiovese (9/2), Rhodia (6/1), Jassur Des Brosses (10/1), Rocket Rufus (10/1), Ray's The One (16/1), Dance In The Park (40/1), The Last Melon (150/1)

12:40 Huntingdon - 6 February 2025 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Support for one of the handicap newcomers would look significant, but previous course winner JACK THE SAVAGE has fallen to a workable mark and could be worth chancing after a break/partnered by Freddie Gingell. The returning Sangiovese didn't entirely convince with his application towards the end of last term but he remains lightly raced and can't be discounted. Rocket Rufus and Tramuntana are a couple of the aforementioned handicap debutants to note.
