Fair handicap chaser who shaped as if retaining his ability after 17 months off when fourth at Fontwell (26f) last month. Heavy ground may have caught him out when pulled up at Worcester (23f, heavy) 3 weeks ago and sounder surface here in his favour from steadily easing mark.

Generally reliable and gained a deserved first win for over 2 years at Southwell in March. Respectable efforts both starts since, latterly after 6 months when fourth of 14 in handicap chase at Worcester (23f, heavy) 20 days ago. Respected.

Improved sent chasing in 2022/23, winning twice at 3m. However, well held confined to just 2 starts last term and the betting may well prove a useful guide on this return from 6 months off.

Won back-to-back handicap chases earlier this year but struggled to get anywhere near that level on final 2 starts, pulled up in handicap chase at Uttoxeter (24f, heavy) in April. Possible this run will bring him on returning from 6 months off.

Successful on sole outing in points and, with cheekpieces enlisted, he improved on his exploits over hurdles when making a winning handicap chase debut at Huntingdon (23.6f) 4 weeks ago. Totally unexposed and big shout up 7 lb in follow-up bid.

Tumbled down the weights since returning in the spring and travelled much more sweetly with blinkers enlisted when second of 9 in handicap chase at Wincanton (25.1f, good) 19 days ago. Worth considering from 1 lb higher in the hope the headgear has desired effect again.

Unplaced sole start in Irish points and little to shout about in bumper/4 starts over hurdles, the latest after 15 months off when pulled up in novice hurdle at Uttoxeter (19.9f, good to firm) in July. Goes chasing now following wind surgery but he's hard to make a case for.

Typically made hard work of things but made the frame again when second at Market Rasen (21.4f) in August. Disappointed having made the running when pulled up at Sedgefield (263f) 6 weeks ago but each-way claims if bouncing back.

Hurdles winner who finished runner-up on chase debut at Worcester (23f) last summer. Operating some way below her best in 2 starts over hurdles/fences since returning from a year off, however.

Placed both starts between the flags early in 2022 but has shown little in over hurdles and well-beaten sent chasing at Worcester (23f) in July. Hard to make a case for.

Low-mileage 5-y-o TOUCHWOODEXPRESS surpassed the form shown over hurdles when making a winning chase debut at Huntingdon (23.6f) 4 weeks ago and, with his yard continuing in fine form, he earns the vote to maintain his 100% record in this sphere. Jony Max, who bounced back to form when runner-up at Wincanton latest, may emerge as the chief threat. Likeable 9-y-o Felton Bellevue is another likely to be thereabouts.
