10/3
Hadn't achieved much on his first 6 starts for present connections, but justified significantly shorter odds than he'd started in his first 2 handicaps when getting off the mark at Perth (23.9f, good to firm) earlier this month, suited by a markedly longer trip. Can go in again up 5 lb.

With her reappearance under her belt, finally added to her debut win in a bumper with a commanding success at Newton Abbot (21.6f, good to soft) just over 2 weeks ago. Handicapper has taken a swipe with a 10 lb rise, but she's fancied to be in the mix again.

Made a winning handicap debut over hurdles at Warwick (25f) last May. Pulled up both starts in chases 6 months apart but stopped the slide in first-time blinkers back hurdling at Worcester (23f, good to firm) just under 3 weeks ago. May well build on that.

Back to form when runner-up at Market Rasen (23f, good) last month but not in same form when down the field at Worcester (23f, good) recently. Mark eases a shade but others more convincing on balance.

Showed his effectiveness when fresh when second on 3m Southwell reappearance in May but tailed off on both subsequent outings, racing indolently at Worcester earlier this month. Temperament under suspicion so looks an easy swerve.

16/1
Poor maiden who ran her best race in handicaps sporting first-time cheekpieces when second of 10 at Fontwell (25.8f, good to firm) just under 6 weeks ago, hanging badly right when in front run-in. Nudged up 1 lb and could fill a place if she's in the same mood.

Winless following 16 attempts over hurdles and didn't go with much encouragement after 6 months off at Ffos Las (23.9f, good) in May. Percentage call is to look elsewhere.

Has shown little in a bumper and 5 starts over hurdles, pulled up in handicap at Southwell (20.4f, good to soft) when last seen 12 months ago. Has had a wind op but can only be watched.

Forecasts

Catuaba (5/2), Dancingontheedge (11/4), Captain's Pick (10/3), Milanese Rose (6/1), Moro Rock (8/1), Hollow Ron (14/1), Glorious Mist (16/1), Stripe Of Honour (28/1), Double Or Quits (50/1)

14:55 Stratford - 21 July 2024 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

CAPTAIN'S PICK was suited by a markedly longer trip when opening his account at Perth earlier this month and he can follow up with the promise of better to come. The obvious danger is Dancingonthedge, who bolted up at Newton Abbot recently and has subsequently been hit with a 10 lb rise, while Catuaba, who stopped the slide back hurdling last time, can edge out Glorious Mist for third place.
