Reached the frame in maiden hurdles in Ireland for Eoin Doyle but went with no promise on his first outing since leaving Eoin Doyle after 13 months off on handicap debut at Southwell (15.8f, good) recently. Tongue strap back on but can only be watched.

Still looking for first success and whilst he dispelled a poor run at Perth when finishing midfield over 2m at Hexham in May, he was labouring from 3 out upped in trip and found to have bled back at latter course (23.3f, good) a fortnight ago.

Had cheekpieces on and got off the mark not before time in 10-runner handicap hurdle at Cartmel (22.1f, good) 9 days ago, having too much in hand to allow the runner-up back in after committing arguably sooner than ideal. Up 8 lb for that win but capable of following up in her current form.

Winner on AW in April and ran creditably behind a progressive rival when second of 10 in handicap hurdle at Worcester (16f, good) 18 days ago, running on. Fancied to make his presence felt with a 10 lb conditional taking over in the plate.

Poor in bumpers/over hurdles. Didn't get very far on handicap debut back from a break at Fontwell (19.1f, good) in May and off a further 2 months since. Could only consider if backed.

Bumper winner who was runner-up twice in handicaps for Ben Pauling last summer. However, she has largely struggled since joining present yard and is now 0-16 over hurdles following a first flight fall at Uttoxeter recently.

Hurdles winner at Uttoxeter in June 2022 but you have to go back to 2020 for when this 12-y-o registered his sole success over fences. Shaped as if back in form and now reverts to the smaller obstacles from a much-reduced mark.

Successful at the third attempt in Irish points but has little form under Rules and was lit up in first-time blinkers back hurdling after only 8 days off at this track (23.1f, good) last month. Cheekpieces quickly reapplied and mark tumbles further.

Little impact in 4 starts for Tom Lacey and little encouragement to glean from both starts for this yard (tongue tied on latest). Percentage call is to look elsewhere from just out of the weights.

Forecasts

Asa (11/8), Ten Ten Twenty (10/3), Mackie Dee (5/1), Ideal De Romay (13/2), Agilulf (10/1), Bean Norty (28/1), Betty's Belle (33/1), Princess Unique (40/1), Montys Rock (66/1)

13:45 Market Rasen - 7 July 2024 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

This could well develop into a match between ASA and Ten Ten Twenty, with preference for the former having belatedly opened her account in good style at Cartmel last week. Ten Ten Twenty found only a progressive rival too good at Worcester recently and David Jeffreys' 6-y-o may have to settle for silver again, with Ideal de Romay rounding off the shortlist from a basement mark in reapplied cheekpieces.
