Gleneagles colt who made a successful debut (hooded) in 8-runner maiden at Leicester in September, then improved when third to Ancient Wisdom in Autumn Stakes at this Newmarket in October. Not seen to best effect on his recent return and remains capable of better this year. Upped again in trip.

Dubawi colt who made a winning debut in a 7f novice on the July Course. Took a big step forward when second to a promising sort in a listed event at Salisbury next time and having disappointed in Group 3 on final start, ran well on return/yard debut at Epsom last month.

Caught the eye on his 1m Doncaster debut and took a big step forward from that when 4 lengths seventh of 9 in Group 2 Royal Lodge at Newmarket. Disappointed at short odds on his final 2-y-o start and repeated the dose after 6 months off at Yarmouth recently. Upped in grade/trip.

Camelot colt who was value for extra when making a successful debut in maiden at Sandown. Unable to land a blow in the Royal Lodge at Newmarket next time but ran well after 7 months off when ¾-length second of 6 to Bellum Justum in listed race at Epsom (10.1f, good to firm) recently. In the mix.

His final start at 2 yrs is proving strong form but ultimately shaped as if better for the run when 5¼ lengths third of 5 to Dallas Star in Ballysax Stakes at Leopardstown (10f, heavy, 8/11) 34 days ago. 1 of 2 for Aidan O'Brien and he looks the more fancied.

Made a winning debut at Newcastle in December and shaped well when second of 5 in minor event at Kempton (11f, 4/1) a couple of months ago, just failing having missed the break. Remains open to improvement.

Perfect start when winning 7-runner maiden at Newcastle (10.2f) on debut, readily overcoming a slow gallop. Perhaps unsuited by the track when running to a similar level when fifth of 6 in novice at Newmarket (10f, good to firm) 23 days ago and he'll need a big step forward.

Bred to be sharp and shaped with plenty of encouragement when second in maiden at Nottingham (8.3f, heavy) on debut in October. Much improved on return when losing out on the nod in novice at Newmarket (10f, good to firm) last month and can progress again.

This is rarely the strongest of Derby trials, but Aidan O'Brien's ILLINOIS is taken to double his tally having shaped as if better for the run when third in a Leopardstown Group 3 last month. He can get the better of Defiance, who took another step forward after 7 months off when runner-up in a listed event at Epsom recently, while The Euphrates, who finished a place ahead of the selection on return, should have more to offer, too.
