Gamble Plant Norfolk National Handicap Chase

Veteran mare who took advantage of a good opportunity at Fontwell in September. Decent effort after 4 months off when fourth of 16 in handicap chase (66/1) at Cheltenham (28.1f, good) 20 days ago. Not taken lightly.

Won 3 on the bounce over fences during 2021/22. Missed the following season and record was mixed last term. Mark has eased at least. Up in trip.

Put a couple of poor efforts behind him when landing a 6-runner contest from the front here (24.2f, soft) in November. Not so good there following month and off since, but type to bounce back.

Useful hurdler/chaser at his best but off 21 months and failed to match that form last term, including when fifth in Sandown handicap (24.2f) latest. However, promises to be suited by this marathon trip and Dylan Whelan takes off 7 lb.

Recorded third win for this yard at Sedgefield (27f) 14 months ago and ran well on his first 2 starts last season. Well held since, however, so plenty to prove after 5 months off.

Consistent for Neil Mulholland but efforts for this yard since returning to action in October have not been overly inspiring (prone to mistakes over fences). The refitting of cheekpieces needs to perk him up.

It all clicked for him over fences in the first half of last season, completing a hat-trick (first leg here). Pulled up at Hereford in November but back to form next 2 starts, including when third here (21.2f) last month after a break. Player if seeing out longer trip.
