Bred to stay well and was held back by inexperience when well held in bumper at Exeter on debut. However, after 11 months off he was beaten a long way out when pulled up at the same course (18.5f) on his hurdles bow on New Year's Day.

Irish point winner at the fourth attempt and, having been well supported (6/4), produced an encouraging first effort under Rules when second to a good prospect in bumper at Carlisle 80 days ago. Shortlisted on his hurdles debut.

Failed to beat a rival in bumper and looked a hard ride when mid-field in novice at Warwick (19f) on hurdles debut. Beaten further back at the same course (21f) last time, so he needs to leave those efforts behind having had another wind op.

Showed ability in Newbury bumper on debut and improved from that effort when recording back-to-back wins at Bangor in December. One to consider as he makes the switch to hurdling.

£40,000 3-y-o, Balko gelding. Dam maiden on Flat/failed to complete sole start over fences in France. Won sole start in Irish points (November 4) and of obvious interest on his Rules bow.

Finished fourth all 3 starts in Irish points and hinted at ability when fifth of 12 in bumper at this course last March. Bred to stay well so this longer trip should suit as he starts off over hurdles.

Runner-up in an Irish point and showed promise when a close second at this C&D on Rules debut. in November. Likely to have been placed but for departing 3 out back here 16 days later and he's a leading player again.

Runner-up both starts in Irish points and clear of the rest when second at Wetherby (2m) on his hurdling bow. In first-time tongue tie, found the test too much when pulled up at Hexham (20.1f, heavy) in December, but he still remains with potential.

Made same appeal on paper and was prominent in the market (4/1) but offered little on debut when well-beaten sixth of 8 in bumper at Exeter 23 days ago. Needs to take a big step forward as he makes a quick switch to hurdling.

Fair bumper winner for Kim Bailey but, having attracted support (10/3) after 7 months off, could only finish fifth of 7 in maiden at Uttoxeter (19.9f) on her stable/hurdles debut in November. Has something to find.

Forecasts

Ilfu Un Mome (11/8), Livin On Luco (3/1), Denemethy (10/3), The Village Way (15/2), Guard The Moon (10/1), Isocrate (33/1), Saint Bibiana (40/1), Grand Escaparde (100/1), Valfortore (200/1), Cool View (250/1)

12:55 Chepstow - 24 January 2024 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

LIVIN ON LUCO was only narrowly denied at this C&D on his hurdles bow, before looking likely to have been placed but for falling here on his next outing (the winner has scored again since), so he could be ready to get off the mark this time around. Ilfu Un Mome and Denemethy both make appeal on their hurdling debuts and could be the main challengers.
