Successful in points and stepped up on his bumper debut effort when second on hurdles bow at Carlisle (19.3f) last month, having been granted run of the race. Not in anything like the same form at Market Rasen since and he may be one for handicaps in this sphere.

Down the field in 2 Doncaster bumpers last winter and fared no better on last month's hurdles debut at Carlisle.

Runner-up in a point bumper but pulled up both tries over obstacles in recent months. Hood goes on now.

€75,000 3-y-o, Westerner gelding. Strong in betting but he never managed to threaten when third of 4 in bumper at Bangor on debut 6 weeks ago. However, in good hands and not one to be writing off now sights are set on hurdling.

Fair in bumpers and similar form over hurdles in Ireland, third in a Thurles maiden (2m) in March. Yet to be asked for effort when falling at Cork (3m) final start and he remains with potential now starting out for new yard on return.

Fair Flat winner for Jim Goldie who ran to a similar level on yard/hurdles debut in refitted blinkers when third in an Ayr novice (2m, soft) 24 days ago, staying on. Entitled to improve.

Went the wrong way in bumpers (fair form at best) and well held in a pair of novice hurdles in recent months. Another who may do better when tackling handicaps.

Telescope gelding. Dam fairly useful 2m/19f hurdle winner (stayed 3m). Hinted at ability in an Exeter maiden hurdle on debut 12 days ago but needs a lot more.

6/1
Lightly-raced maiden who proved he retains ability following wind op/22 months off when fourth in novice company at Ayr (2m) 24 days ago. Could well step up further provided he stands more regular racing but return to longer trips may suit ideally.

Timeform
Useful on Flat in France, successful at Vichy (12f) in September (stays 15f). Best effort yet when runner-up in listed event in November and he's an intriguing hurdles debutant having joined new yard for €65,000 subsequently.
|
Timeform
Runner-up sole outing in points and having looked in need of the run on bumper debut in October, he duly offered something to work on when midfield in 12-runner Sedgefield novice (16.9f) 3 weeks ago. Type to do better, particularly over longer trips.

Clovis Du Berlais gelding. Unplaced completed start in points in April and he offered little when sixth on last month's hurdles debut at Market Rasen. Passed over.

Justified favouritism when making a successful debut in a Market Rasen bumper last winter. In need of the experience sent hurdling on return at Lingfield (2m) in November and should have learnt plenty from that. Leading claims.

Timeform
Fair staying performer on the level for James Fanshawe (stays 2m). Acquired by new connections for 9,000 gns in October and not without promise when sixth of 12 in an Ayr novice over this trip. Capable of better again.

Sao Carlos (2/1), Mirabad (2/1), Goldwyn (4/1), Leitrim Chief (6/1), Jaminoz (12/1), Spit Spot (20/1), Mr Mahler (40/1), Askmore (40/1), Judicial Review (50/1), Gallonray (50/1), Killigarth (80/1), Nick The Greek (125/1), Conscription (250/1), Call Me Jack (250/1)

12:35 Wetherby - 13 January 2024 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Those with hurdles experience don't set an exacting standard and it could well pay to side with MIRABAD without the benefit of market clues. A useful sort on the Flat in France, he posted his best effort yet when runner-up in listed company back in November and promises to be suited by this sort of test now hurdling for his new stable. Sao Carlos and Jaminoz head up the dangers, with Gallonray also worth monitoring in the betting for clues now hurdling.
