10/3
Quickly made up into a useful hurdler during novice campaign, winning 3 times. Last season didn't go to plan following a promising start but, having struggled on return/chase debut at Warwick, she got back on track when making all over C&D last month. 8 lb rise won't be easy to shrug off, though.

Made it to the racecourse just twice last season but looked better than ever, solid second in a competitive handicap here prior to going one better at Wincanton (24.7f, good to soft). 4 lb higher back from a 12-month break but trip/ground fine and will be a danger to all if fully tuned-up.

Won both completed starts as a novice hurdler during 2021/22 campaign. Rather disappointing on the whole last season (has undergone another wind op since latest appearance in April), though, and needs to get back on track in a first-time tongue strap here. Cobden prefers Irish Hill.

Progressive when completing a handicap hurdle hat-trick last winter, the final leg of which was gained off 1 lb higher at Ascot in February. Below par both starts so far this season (only seventh in the C&D race won by Get A Tonic last time) but major claims if the first-time blinkers do the trick.

Fair form over hurdles in France and made the frame both starts over fences on the other side of the Channel. Not the easiest to assess now upped in trip for this handicap/yard debut and the market should offer clues with regard to expectations.

Added to his tally at Newton Abbot in October and backed it up with an even better effort when third in a competitive event at Cheltenham next time. Never got into a rhythm jumping-wise over 3m here latest but this drop back in trip looks a good move and could have a say if hurdling more fluently.

Forecasts

Rambo T (2/1), Irish Hill (10/3), Get A Tonic (10/3), Steal A March (11/2), Silent Revolution (9/1), Now Or Never (20/1)

13:50 Newbury - 30 December 2023 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Olly Murphy has his string in good order and RAMBO T could be the answer to a tricky-looking puzzle. He didn't help himself with a scrappy round of jumping here last time but he has generally looked a safe enough conveyance and appeared to be on the up prior to that. Irish Hill was behind Get A Tonic over C&D a month ago but he's now 10 lb better off with that rival and will have a serious chance if the addition of blinkers help spark a return to form. Steal A March also merits respect.
