Better known as a chaser nowadays and wasn't seen to best effect from rear when sixth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Ayr on return to the smaller obstacles 19 days ago. Others preferred.

Justified strong support when winning 8-runner event on handicap debut at Ayr (16f, good to firm) 18 days ago by a length from Fathers Advice, staying on well. Up only 4 lb and he's the one to beat again.

Has gone the wrong way since a fairly encouraging hurdles bow, the application of blinkers failing to spark him back to life when last seen over a year ago. Headgear off now but still very hard to fancy.

Didn't make much of an impact in 4 starts for Nicky Henderson and has fared little better for his current yard, again down the field at Sedgefield last time. Tough to fancy.

Made frame second start in points and Irish bumper efforts for John Halley also weren't devoid of promise. Has looked poor over jumps for this yard, though, including on chase bow last time. Quickly switched back to hurdles but remains tough to support.

Scored at Newcastle from 3 lb higher mark around this time last year and produced by far his best effort of the year when fourth of 9 in handicap hurdle at Wetherby (16f, soft) 8 days ago. Will need to step up again to win this but holds frame claims nonetheless.

Placed on completed start in Irish points but has been tailed off in trio of maiden/novice hurdles. Worth market check on handicap debut with good-value conditional aboard.

Forecasts

Artic Row (7/4), Fathers Advice (4/1), Chumlee (9/2), Jamil (13/2), Magic Mike (10/1), Hector Master (12/1), Clean Getaway (20/1), Click And Collect (25/1), Jimmy Rabbitte (33/1), Eddie Mush (33/1)

16:45 Newcastle - 29 March 2023 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

ARTIC ROW got the better of Fathers Advice at Ayr earlier this month and that duo appeal as clear stand-outs on form, with Nick Alexander's unexposed gelding expected to confirm superiority over that rival again despite a 3 lb swing in the weights. The rest of the opposition aren't particularly inspiring even for the grade, though Jamil is below his last winning mark and shaped with more promise at Wetherby last time, so is taken to complete the placings.
