Fairly promising novice a few seasons back (course winner in October 2020) and probably needed the run after nearly 2 years off on recent handicap debut at Kelso. Significantly back up in trip and this should reveal what ability remains.

Down the field in handful of bumper/maiden hurdle starts but first-time cheekpieces seemingly the catalyst for her getting off the mark in a course novice (20.4f, heavy) just over 3 weeks ago. Makes handicap debut and could kick on now up and running.

Won handicap at Bangor and mares novice at Carlisle last season, but ended the campaign on a low note at Market Rasen at February. Creditable return when fifth of 8 at Newcastle (20.3f) on Boxing Day but likely more needed upped in trip.

Finally off the mark over fences at Hexham in April. Mostly respectable efforts since but ran one of her lesser races at Newcastle last month. This a rare start over hurdles and worth a market check as a result.

Winner of 3 of her first 4 starts since joining Gillian Boanas, latest at Cartmel in June. Shaped as if needing the run at Hexham (20.1f) in November and having experienced a first fall of her career at Newcastle on Boxing Day, this could well be a confidence-restoring mission.

Enhanced her fine Kelso record when landing third success last spring. Caught the eye under a considerate ride on return and did enough to confirm her return to form when third at same track (22.7f, heavy) 34 days ago, noted running on late. One to note back against her own sex.

Thorough stayer who needed every yard to score at Catterick a year ago. Form has been rather up-and-down since (poor in 3 starts upon return) and failed a to land a blow in that corresponding contest just under 3 weeks ago. Mark continues to slide.

Barely any sign of ability across 4 starts in early-2021 but more like it after 19 months off when third in novice hurdle at Kelso (22.7f, heavy) just under 5 weeks ago. Needs to build on that now heading into handicaps.

Forecasts

Aazza (15/8), Lissen To The Lady (10/3), El Poppochapo (9/2), Jessiemac (5/1), Lady Tremaine (5/1), On We Go (11/2), Gipsy Lee Rose (15/2), Wild Polly (14/1), Gypsey's Secret (25/1)

14:25 Ayr - 1 February 2023 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A few in with a squeak but AAZZA ran away with a big-field conditional jockeys' event at Doncaster just over 3 weeks ago and while the handicapper has reacted accordingly for that wide-margin success, Rose Dobbin's charge still gets the verdict to follow up. Lissen To The Lady rarely runs against just her own sex so she heads up the dangers, with El Poppochapo another fancied to be in the mix making her handicap debut.
