Held in bumpers and looks a long-term project over hurdles having been left behind on debut over obstacles.

Runner-up sole start in Irish points and shaped with promise when third of 10 in a novice hurdle at Chepstow (16f, good) in November. However, disappointed at Ffos Las a month later.

Blue Bresil gelding who made a promising start when third of 12 in novice at Worcester (20f, 16/1) on debut in October. Held back by late mistakes over C&D a month ago but remains open to progress.

Made frame on last 2 of 3 starts in Irish points but looked one for the longer term on last month's Rules/hurdling debut at Chepstow.

Useful on the Flat (stays 16.5f) and shaped better than the distance beaten suggests tried hurdling when a remote third at Haydock (24.3f) in November. Fared even worse at Hereford and he now looks a handicap project.

Ran to a fair level on the first of his 2 starts in bumpers and has displayed similar form in 2 novice hurdles 9 months apart, shaping as if better for the run over C&D a month ago. Could take a step forward with that under his belt.

Runner-up sole start in points. Promise when fifth both starts but he's probably more of a long-term prospect.

Winning pointer who showed a lot more on second run over hurdles when fourth in a 23.6f Chepstow novice in December. Drop in trip a worry but he can make his presence felt.

Third sole start in maiden points in Ireland. Sent off a huge price but promising start when fourth at Chepstow last month (19.5f). Expected to build on that.

5/6
Pether's Moon gelding who has plenty about him physically and has found only one too good on both his starts over hurdles to date. Step up in trip will suit and he's very much the one to beat.

Forecasts

Uncle Bert (5/6), Hercules Morse (10/3), Intel Des Bruyeres (5/1), Propelled (17/2), Rouge De L'quest (9/1), The Big Reveal (10/1), Kap Chidley (20/1), Gladiatus (28/1), Puddlesinthepark (50/1), Also Known As (50/1), Merveillo (50/1), Rolling River (50/1), Bryn Black Sam (200/1), Ideallko (250/1)

14:00 Ffos Las - 23 January 2023 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Most of the these need more time so it could be a good opening for UNCLE BERT, who has a brace of runner-up efforts over hurdles to his name and seems sure to be suited by this increased emphasis on stamina. Intel des Bruyeres ticks a lot of boxes so the market will be interesting, with Hercules Morse another to consider.
