Successful on 6f Doncaster reappearance in March. Ran to form there next time but he's failed to beat a rival in his 2 outings since. First for new yard here having left Kevin Ryan.

Has done well at Windsor this year, winning in June and even better form when runner-up there (6f, good to firm) 13 days ago. This is a more competitive race, though.

Successful at Ascot (6f) and Musselburgh (7f) this summer. Raced alone towards the far rail when fourth of 8 at Newmarket last time and treated as if still in form. Respectable sixth of 21 at York in the second leg of this series. Hollie Doyle takes the ride.

Proved at least as good as ever to record a second win of the season at Epsom (6f, good to firm) last month. Raced closer to the pace than ideal when sixth of 18 at Goodwood 11 days ago (likely still in good form).

Got his head back in front at Hamilton in June. Has performed well in defeat on all 3 outings since but the handicapper would appear to have him about right for now.

C&D winner. This year's efforts have been no more than respectable but he is starting to look well handicapped. His last 5 wins have come on soft/heavy and he would enter the reckoning if rain arrives.

Racked up a 5-timer last summer. Has run well when twice reaching the frame here this summer and perhaps just didn't take to cheekpieces (quickly discarded) when running poorly on AW last time. Not discounted.

Has thrived of late, winning 3 6f handicaps since May. Another good effort when second of 15 at York (6f, good to firm) 16 days ago. Can make presence felt again.

Won twice on AW at the start of the year and struck again at Thirsk (6f, good) in April. Not in the same sort of form on his last 3 starts but he has dropped back to a handy mark as a result. No surprise were he to revive after a short break.

Hold-up sprinter who got off the mark for the campaign when seeing off 10 rivals at Chester (6f, good to firm) 8 weeks ago. 3 lb rise fair and he'll be running on at the finish if the leaders go too quick.

Added to his tally when leading close home at Sandown (5f, good to firm) in June. Not in the same form when fifth of 6 at Newmarket 9 days ago. Often starts slowly.

Made frame twice at Meydan over the winter but has been operating below his best since returning to the UK, albeit latest Chelmsford sixth was a bit better. Has a lower turf mark and Tom Marquand is in the saddle but he has too much to prove.

Winning handicap debut at Thirsk (5f, good to firm) in June and has run 2 good races in defeat since, going down only narrowly at Pontefract (5f, good) last time. Lightly raced enough to think his best days are still ahead of him. High on the shortlist.

Taking debut 6f scorer (soft) at Doncaster for Richard Fahey in May 2021. Also went close at the same venue on his return for new trainer 12 months later. Raced on the unfavoured part of the track when down the field on his C&D handicap debut. Retains potential.

Won a big-field handicap at York (6f, good) in the second leg of this series. He's been well below that level in 2 subsequent outings but the York form is strong (race threw up several winners) and he could bounce back with a bang for last year's winning stable.

16:45 Haydock - 7 August 2022 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

The form SHOWTIME MAHOMES showed when winning one of the earlier races in this series at York is strong so he's given a chance to bounce back from a couple of lesser efforts and provide his trainer with a second successive win in this race. Rambuso Creek is a 3-y-o heading in the right direction so rates an obvious danger for the Kevin Ryan team. Good Earth, who has thrived this summer, and Mister Bluebird, the mount of Hollie Doyle, complete the shortlist.
