Got up late in the piece to land this corresponding event last year and took his form up a notch when landing big-field contest over C&D a fortnight ago, having just enough in hand to hold off the strong challenge of Bond Chairman. Career-high mark to overcome but has to be respected.

Real improver for current yard in 2021, landing the Portland at Doncaster before following up in Group 3 company at Newbury. However he's now failed to beat a rival on his last 3 outings and although back in handicap company here, he's best watched for the time being.

Dual 5f winner who made up into a useful filly at 2yrs. Plenty of encouragement given that enough went wrong on return/handicap debut when 3¼ lengths thirteenth of 20 to Mountain Peak over C&D a fortnight ago and it would be no surprise should she build on that effort here.

Fair 5f juvenile winner who built on his fine comeback run to do everything but claim the win (in front a stride after the line) when a flared nostril behind Mountain Peak over C&D a fortnight ago. Clearly goes well at this track and one of these handicaps in him.

Yet to add to his four 2021 wins this term, but ran his best race of the campaign when runner-up at Sandown (5f) earlier this month, finding only a 3-y-o too strong. Latest effort at Chester easily excused (awkward leaving stalls and hampered soon after) so can get back on track.

Improving filly who notched a couple of smooth 5f successes at Newcastle and Sandown in recent weeks. Ran creditably despite taking an 8 lb hike in the weights when 1¾ lengths fourth of 20 to Mountain Peak over C&D 2 weeks ago and she can feature again today.

C&D winner in 2020 who hasn't kicked on from a couple of eye-catching efforts in the spring. However cheekpieces go back on for the first time in a while today and he's dangerous to dismiss from reduced mark.

Been some time since he scored but he did find things coming easier to him when a close fourth at Windsor (5f) last month. However not so good at Sandown since and others look to have stronger credentials despite the blinkers replacing the usual cheekpieces.

Completed a hat-trick of sprint handicaps last summer (notably Bronze Cup at Ayr) and turned in his best effort of the season when scoring back at that venue last month. May have been expected to do a bit better in Ayr Gold Cup trial on Monday and although 3 lb out of the weights, he's respected.

Bolted up at Southwell in March and remained in good form on both all-weather and turf since. Possibly unsuited by the ground at Windsor last month (also tongue tied) and he has plenty on his plate starting out for his new yard here.

Forecasts

Bond Chairman (10/3), Mountain Peak (10/3), Corazon (7/1), Hurricane Ivor (7/1), King Of Stars (8/1), Live In The Moment (9/1), Lovely Mana (10/1), Call Me Ginger (12/1), Jawwaal (16/1), Lynns Boy (22/1)

17:20 Ascot - 23 July 2022 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Having won this corresponding event last year, MOUNTAIN PEAK is proving better than ever at the age of 7, and with Ed Walker's charge taking his form up a notch further when edging out Bond Chairman over C&D a fortnight ago, he's fancied to go in again. King of Stars can have his latest effort overlooked so he's put forward as the main threat, while Jawwaal is capable of having a say too with the cheekpieces going back on.
