Yet to show anything in two starts and cheekpieces are now applied as well as a tongue strap. Hard to fancy.

6/1
Flat-bred gelding who has shown modest form to date, third at Kelso earlier in the month. Likely to be thereabouts, but obviously vulnerable to anything above-average.

£8,000 4-y-o, Soldier of Fortune gelding. Half-brother to 4 winners, including fairly useful hurdler Quinlandio. Dam 2m hurdle winner. Off mark in points at second attempt in February and of obvious interest on Rules debut for top yard.

Half-brother to 3 winners on Flat but there wasn't much promise in his debut at Ludlow 28 days ago. Hard to make a case for.

Big price and didn't offer a great deal at Cheltenham first time out. Hooded now, but others make more appeal.

Forecasts

Benefact (2/1), Captain Lara (3/1), Victory Club (16/5), Huntsman's Call (6/1), Dubai Jeanius (22/1), Gone In Sixty (25/1), Bella Ciao (25/1), High Yield (25/1), Robber's Bridge (66/1), Youconduit (150/1)

18:50 Southwell - 18 May 2022 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Benefact is in excellent hands and is a full brother to a bumper winner, so he seems like the straightforward answer without the benefit of market clues. Point-winner Victory Club is an obvious danger and Huntsman's Call is the one who should capitalise if the newcomers don't come up to expectations.
