Foaled February 7. £90,000 yearling, Starspangledbanner colt. Dam winner up to 1¼m (2-y-o 7f winner). Yard also represented by Seductive Power and the market should indicate which is the perceived stable first-string.

Foaled April 12. €3,500 yearling, Dandy Man colt. Half-brother to winner abroad by Markaz. Dam, South African 2-y-o 5f winner, half-sister to smart South African sprinter Generalissimo. Others make more appeal on paper.

Foaled February 14. No Nay Never colt. Dam 2-y-o 1m winner out of smart winner up to 1m (dead-heated in Atalanta Stakes, also 2-y-o 6f winner) Ladys First. Hails from a leading yard and very much one to note in the betting.

Foaled April 23. €58,000 yearling, El Kabeir colt. Half-brother to useful winner up to 5.5f Punita Arora and 1m winner Sangria. Yard's newcomer generally come on for a run, so he may well be one for another day.

Foaled February 13. 70,000 gns yearling, Dark Angel gelding. Dam 2-y-o 5f winner. By no means devoid of appeal on paper, but yard is hardly a frequent source of winning newcomers.

€10,000 foal, £31,000 yearling. Make Believe colt. Half-brother to 1¾m winner (stays 16.5f) Nibras Gold. Chances are, this one will need more time and distance.

Foaled March 8. Dark Angel colt. Brother to smart winner up to 9f Althiqa and 2-y-o 7f winner Before Dawn and half-brother to useful 1m winner Magical Land. Likely-looking type for powerful yard (also saddles Winter Crown) and he's high on the shortlist.

Foaled March 8. 7,000 gns foal, Charm Spirit colt. Dam 1m/9f winner. Doesn't have the look of a probable first-time-out winner on paper.

Foaled February 13. 175,000 gns yearling, Kodi Bear colt. Dam, 1¼m winner, half-sister to British/Irish 1000 Guineas winner (stayed 10.5f) Finsceal Beo. Interesting to see how he fares in the betting, particularly in relation to stablemate Dark Thirty.

Foaled April 5. Sixties Icon colt. Dam sprint maiden out of winning half-sister to smart winner up to 1¼m Kal Barg. Like stable companion Metal Merchant, he's probably more one for the longer term.

Mysterious Night (1/1), Winter Crown (5/1), The Foxes (7/1), Freedom Day (9/1), Marbaan (12/1), Sergeant Pep (12/1), Dark Thirty (14/1), Seductive Power (16/1), Geralt Of Rivia (25/1), Metal Merchant (25/1), Top Of The Class (80/1), Priors Dell (100/1), It's Chico Time (100/1), Skybluegold (125/1), Doctor Mozart (200/1)

13:30 Newbury - 13 May 2022 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

MYSTERIOUS NIGHT makes obvious appeal, both on account of his powerful connections and pedigree, and it will look significant if the market speaks in his favour. He is taken to make a winning debut, perhaps at the chief expense of The Foxes, who holds an entry in the 2023 Derby and also ticks plenty of the right boxes on paper. The selection's stablemate Winter Crown needs a second look, too, while Freedom Day and Sergeant Pep are others to note in the betting.
