Three-time winner this year, latest at Sandown in August, but possibly found the race coming too soon when only eighth of 10 here 8 days ago. Sort to bounce back.

It's now thirteen runs since his last win in 2019 but he wasn't disgraced in first-time blinkers when sixth of 16 in handicap at Ripon (6f) 29 days ago. Not ruled out with headgear retained.

Losing run is mounting up but he's made the frame in 6f Ripon handicaps on his last two starts. Tongue strap on now, and he can make his presence felt again.

ANCIENT TIMES has fewer miles on the clock than most of these and the form of his recent Epsom success is proving strong so he gets the nod in a very open sprint. Grant Tuer has his string in great order and his Catterick scorer Lezardrieux and new recruit Tommy Taylor both warrant plenty of respect. Manigordo and Prince of Bel Lir are two others for the shortlist.

  1. ANCIENT TIMES
  2. LEZARDRIEUX
  3. TOMMY TAYLOR (USA)
