Good strike rate over hurdles (5-11), but winless following 9 attempts in this sphere and hopes pinned on first-time blinkers sparking some improvement.

Hardly a winning machine, his sole success from 40 starts gained over hurdles in Ireland back in July 2017. However, creditable fifth in a Bangor handicap chase (17.4f) recently and now 3 lb lower.

Failed to progress over hurdles, but took to fences like a duck to water when making a winning chase debut at Market Rasen (21.4f) 18 days ago. 4 lb rise fair and claims if able to build on that.

Best effort over hurdles when runner-up at Fontwell last August. Has failed to build on that since, but he was successful sole start between the flags and makes chase debut off an attractive mark.

Winning pointer, but he's 0-16 under Rules and was beating a retreat when unseating 4 out on debut for new yard at Worcester a fortnight ago.

Point winner who went very close to opening Rules account when second at Market Rasen (17.2f) in July. Failed to fire at Bangor recently, but each-way chance if on-song here.

Several creditable placed efforts to his name, but it's hard to ignore the fact that he's 0-43 overall (Flat and jumps). Well held at Worcester last time and since undergone another wind op.

Showed ability in bumpers and on the Flat, but offered little in 8 starts over hurdles and she's 6 lb 'wrong' at the weights now switched to fences.

Forecasts

Brother Pat (11/4), Dawn Raider (3/1), Begoodtoyourself (11/2), Pens Man (7/1), Billy The Squid (7/1), Hold Me Tight (17/2), Notnow Seamus (12/1), Le Pogues Storm (25/1), Parisian Affair (33/1)

16:20 Uttoxeter - 1 September 2021 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

PENS MAN has struggled on his last 4 starts over hurdles (all at around 3m), but is of interest back down in trip for this chase debut. Indeed, he was second in a 21.8f Fontwell handicap hurdle off a 7 lb higher mark last summer and landed a maiden point on his sole run between the flags. Dawn Raider has shown more spark the last twice and is feared, along with chase debut winner Brother Pat.

  1. PENS MAN (IRE)
  2. DAWN RAIDER (IRE)
  3. BROTHER PAT
