Found plenty to land Summer Cup over 26f here in July and followed up at Aintree (25f) in October. Failed to complete on 3 of 4 starts since, latterly the Grand National but this more suitable.

Successful twice over fences last year and added second Kelso success to his tally last term over extended 23f last month. 7 lb rise in this stronger contest makes things tougher, though.

Fairly useful hurdler who improved to make second chase start a winning one at Exeter (3m) in November. Struggled at Grade 2 level but more like it when fifth behind Happygolucky at Aintree latest.

Useful chaser but seen out just twice last season. Good reappearance second in Durham National at Sedgefield in October but hard to be enthusiastic about either start since. Blinkers now reached for.

All 3 victories over fences have come here (at up to 20f) and not entirely disgraced when third at Plumpton (19.7f) early last month. This sort of mark likely not beyond him and not dismissed.

Looked promising when winning both completed starts over fences during 2019. Last season's efforts proved mixed but mark has eased and a much better showing anticipated from easing mark.

Shaped encouragingly on back of 11 months off when second at Ludlow (23.8f) in October and seemed to lack the speed in the Topham at Aintree latest, merely passing beaten rivals. This more suitable.

Useful chaser who landed a jumpers bumper in February and wasn't disgraced when second of 4 in a Ludlow handicap chase in March, albeit brushed aside by winner. Is on a competitive mark at least.

Best efforts last term come at Bangor, latterly over 3m in November. Struggled thereafter but step in right direction over hurdles last time. Since switched yards and not entirely ruled out.

Forecasts

Captain Tommy (9/2), Potters Legend (9/2), Almazhar Garde (5/1), Ofalltheginjoints (5/1), Solomon Grey (11/2), Boldmere (7/1), King Of Realms (8/1), Minellacelebration (17/2), Relentless Dreamer (12/1), Saint Xavier (12/1), Dandy Dan (16/1)

15:35 Uttoxeter - 1 May 2021 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A wide-open contest in which it may pay to take a chance on BOLDMERE. He arrives on a handy mark on the balance of his form and, having found the test inadequate at Newbury in March, much better is expected here with his yard amongst the winners. Captain Tommy, on debut for David Bridgwater, Minellacelebration, back in calmer waters, and Solomon Grey are others to consider.

  1. BOLDMERE
  2. CAPTAIN TOMMY (IRE)
  3. MINELLACELEBRATION (IRE)
