Showed more than on 2 previous hurdles starts when seventh in 13-runner Hereford novice (16.2f, heavy) in March. Handicaps will probably be his calling but each-way claims nonetheless.

Beaten a long way starting out in a Ffos Las novice (15.8f, heavy) last weekend and probably more of a long-term project.

Showed more second time up in bumpers when fourth of 13 at Newbury (16.3f, soft) when last seen in January. Has undergone wind surgery and should have a future over hurdles.

Promise on each of his 3 starts in bumpers, particularly when third under a more patient ride at Newton Abbot (16.8f, good) last month. Good each-way chance if finding fluency on this hurdles debut.

Runner-up in Warwick bumper last December and though yet to make an impact since tackling hurdles, this half-brother to winning hurdler Show Court is in good hands and is surely capable of better.

Sent off at 66/1 and down the field on debut in 2m Kempton bumper 8 months ago. Absent since and hard to warm to on this hurdles debut.

Mere glimmers of ability in a couple of bumpers and offered little on recent hurdles debut at Ffos Las. Will be of greater interest in handicaps further down the line.

Bangor debut in September wasn't particularly inspiring and got no further than the first flight at Chepstow last week.

Wide-margin winner of an Irish point when last seen in March. Has joined a respected yard and one to consider on Rules debut, particularly if the market vibes are positive.

Fetched £100,000 after winning a maiden point last year and showed ability on Rules debut in Hereford bumper in March. Ought to do better now switched to hurdles and he's one to note in the betting.

Smart and progressive form in bumpers last leason, culminating in a solid effort when fourth in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham (16.4f, soft). Will prove hard to beat if jumping passes the test.

£19,000 3-y-o, Jeremy gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful hurdler/chaser Red Devil Star. Yard isn't a regular source of winning newcomers and he'll probably come on for the run.

Forecasts

Third Time Lucki (1/6), Ocean Drifter (13/2), Calvario (14/1), Felony (22/1), Canastero (22/1), Mongol Emperor (33/1), Fern Hill (40/1), Wavering Down (50/1), Bay Of Intrigue (66/1), Master Templar (100/1), Henri Morgan Parry (150/1), Brief Acquaintance (150/1)

12:20 Uttoxeter - 16 October 2020 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Granted a clear round on this first foray over hurdles, THIRD TIME LUCKI is likely to hold all the aces. He fared much the best of the British-trained runners when fourth in the Champion Bumper at the Festival in March and seemingly possesses the potential to take high rank in the novice hurdlers' division. Canastero, Calvario, Ocean Drifter and Bay of Intrigue can do battle for minor honours.

  1. THIRD TIME LUCKI (IRE)
  2. CANASTERO (IRE)
  3. CALVARIO (FR)
