Burristo28
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-11| J: Andrea Atzeni| T: R Hannon| OR:  67
7/2
Cost £30,00 and makes some appeal on pedigree; 7f suits given that he's a half-brother to a French 7.5f winner. Three previous starts were encouraging and a mark of 67 is workable. The betting can guide.

Balavad10

Placed twice over this trip from four previous attempts and this looks a bit easier than his latest assignment when he was fourth of 12 in a Class 2 handicap at Goodwood last month. A leading candidate in this company.

Stablemate of Burristo who tries 7f for the first time. Jockey bookings suggest he's no back number; will be interesting if that's reflected in the betting market.

Debut run was promising given that he was slow to stride and hung left inside the final furlong. Didn't make much progress last time, though, and moves into handicap company with a bit to prove.

Both previous starts were promising displays and the manner of her performances suggest a try at 7f is a logical move. Was keen in the early stages last time but got on an even keel before keeping on well near the finish; of interest high here.

It's A Green Thing18
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-6| J: T Hamilton| T: R A Fahey| OR:  62

Has experience of the trip and posted his best effort to date when fourth at Newcastle last month (just ½L behind Balavad that day). Needs to better his latest start but not unduly punished for his handicap debut.

Finished behind both Balvad and It's A Green Thing at Newcastle last month and has a bit to find on a literal reading of the form; but should appreciated the return to 7f and cannot be confidently ruled out given the form of her stable.

Both previous runs were moderate efforts and this gelded son of Mustajeeb already has improvement to find. Bonus that his yard is in good form and his connections can use this as a platform for future handicap assaults.

Not much to get excited about form the filly's three previous runs and she needs a big step forward now she tries a handicap for the first time.

Forecasts

Diamond Haze (9/4), Burristo (7/2), Cuban Cigar (9/2), Balavad (9/2), Listen Again (9/1), Moiella (12/1), It's A Green Thing (22/1), Five And Dime (28/1), Mont Blanc (100/1)

15:35 Thirsk - 9 August 2020 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

BALAVAD has already narrowly accounted for the scalp of It's A Green Thing (and Listed Again for that matter) and is taken to confirm the form despite having to give weight away this time. His latest start (at Goodwood) is the strongest piece of form on offer and he'll be hard to beat if running up to or beyond that level. Burristo looks the more likely of Richard Hannon's pair and is also respected, but Moiella has created a very favourable impression so far and she might well give the selection the most to do now she's upped in trip.
  1. Balavad
  2. Moiella
  3. It's A Green Thing
